i like the sayings above
ooo, KNIVES!!!
girl who jumped to her death, the single shot though
i had a very strange dream. and i know why. i watched an Andy Warhol documentary for the 2nd time last night. i didn't give it my full attention the 1st time around so i had to watch it before i took it back today. see, i don't quite understand Andy Warhol. i don't know why people think he has changed art so much. i don't know if i would think this way if i wasn't trying to be an artist myself. so anyways, this documentary made me see him in a different light since basically all i really knew of him was based on films, that were not 100% accurate. well, they were ficitional so what can one think? and a documentary is much more truthful. so i kinda understand him a little better now. think i still need to watch/read a little more fact based stuff. but overall i kinda get him & what he was trying to say with his art.
some things i learned & wondered: i didn't know he painted quite a bit before the whole silkscreen thing. and although i knew a little about it, he did a lot of silkscreens of things i really like & thought were interesting to repeat. some of these things include: skulls, knives, crosses, & guns. he even did several other interesting things to repeat-an electric chair far off in the distance & a girl who committed suicide. she jumped off a building & fell on to a car to her death. the documentary didn't say if he took these pictures or not. but i'm guessing no, especially for the girl, because that'd mean he would've had to of been at the crime scene. would be curious to know where he got these pictures from...like the skulls, knives, crosses, guns, & the electric chair. (oh & i didn't realize how religious he was...well he grew up in a religious environment that obviously affected him a bit through his work-like the crosses. & he also did silkscreens of the last supper, etc...)
o.k. my dream, before i forget. again, this is vaguely. i thought i was in The Factory but it seemed like i was at a theatre (big stage & seats upstairs & down). everyone was downstairs on the stage or near the stage. and all these young artists were there. Andy was there too, but i don't remember him talking/doing anything. and everyone was doing their crazy performance art or showing off their newest painting, etc...on stage one by one. i don't remember what i was doing, but i know i was there. even if just watching for the side (which i feel like happens a lot in my dreams anyways). hm, i think that documentary really DID something to me.
*OH, & what i'm thinking now is, i must've been doing something besides watching the activity going on. cuz i woke up w/a terrible headache-ugh! i blame this dream.;}
