Mexican Village

(this was the 1st thing i saw at the party store. i like silly/unique packaging, so this chocolate marshallow "lollipop" was a MUST.)

(yeah, it looks creepy & strange. it's a Santa Muerte candle. & for only $2! mine was white wax, Juno got the same but w/red wax. i like what the back said. here's the last couple of lines: "i beg & implore you condescend to protect me and grant me all the favors that i ask for until the last day, hour, and moment at which our lord order to take me to his presence. amen." )

(some 'sugared donut.' and above it, a small chocolate bar. don't know if it's Carlos V or Carlosz. hm...???...)

(last but definitely not least. a crucifix. and it was the last thing that caught my eye before leaving the store. Juno and i were curious if it glowed it the dark...i mean it looks like it does. the guys there said they were pretty sure it did, so for 3.49, why not take my chances? and i like cruicifixes anyway so it wouldn't be a loss. and low & behold it does glow. the whole thing actually...not just Jesus. i think it's pretty sweet.)

Saturday night i spent some time with my friend "Juno." that's not her real name but if she knew i was chatting about her online, she wouldn't be too happy. some peeps don't like that, and i understand. so i'll use a nickname i sometimes call her cuz she reminds me of Juno from the film Juno. ;} anyways we planned to go to Mexican Village in downtown Detroit because we haven't been there in a while. mainly we went just to eat and visit a couple of stores.

unfortunately the one store we REALLY wanted to go to closed 20 minutes before we got there, bummer! i really wanted to go there because they sell lots of cool stuff like many different kinds of rosaries, crucifixes, and one of my fave things-Day of the Dead stuff. so we went to a party store (but it was a sweet party store!) since they sell some similar things (just not as much and not the greatest quality). and i was happy with what i got (pics above). so next to the bakery. strangely THAT was still open and not the really cool store, go figure! i got a couple of pastries and 2 Heart cookies...ooo, they were PINK. tasty stuff.

let me remind you Saturday night was freezing so that kinda sucked when we were walking around. plus, i kinda ruined our dinner because i had a BIG lunch and i didn't think i'd still be full by the time we went to the restaurant but i still was a lil' bit. :( i told Juno that i'd eat something small but she said if it were o.k. if she just got a carry-out for her & her mom and i said fine. again, i felt kinda bad but i think she didn't want to make it an all night thing. i told her i still wanted to hang out but she just said we'd take the scenic route home (though there's not too much scenery & i swear she had no heat in her car...so i was ready to go back home).

again, kinda a bummer that the one store was closed (i can't remember the name or how to say it cuz it starts with an X). but we're hopefully gonna go back soon (we know their winter hours now) because they have some of the coolest DOTD stuff. and both Juno & i didn't get to go to Mexican Village during the time of Day of the Dead...and i'm sure the store would've had some really neat stuff. the bakery(s) has cool DOTD stuff too (Juno says) during early November...sugar skulls & stuff like that. sweet!!! but i was happy with our travels even though it was COLD...and then, of course, Sunday was so warm. again, go figure! (on sunday, all i wore out during the day was one of my hooded sweatshirts w/a t-shirt underneath. and yay, i didn't even have to wear my thermals under my jeans...or even my boots.)

but i'm sure it'll be back to very cooooold before long unfortunately. that's just the way things go here in Michigan. oh & happy Monday to you all. i hope you all have a lovely week.~

Thanks Demented Wench. You'll have to post your statue if you decide to get it!
