"So twisted by men, a man, my father, that I became like one. Everything I adored about them, they despised in me. Ruthlessness, arrogance, stubbornness, distance and cruelty. A cold calculating nature, immune to all but my own reason. Never able to acknowledge the repercussions of my behavior. Oblivious to the brutality and selfishness with which I would lacerate others."
Great book, almost finished with it....

Gossip - Are You That Somebody
I cannot tell you how much I love the Gossip. Or more specifically Beth Ditto. Her voice ALWAYS gives me chills. Even if it's 105 degrees out when I'm driving in my car. This is a cover originally by Aaliyah. I'm not a big fan of that kinda music but wow, Beth's version is just plain AMAZING!
Have a good weekend. I have a couple art things to go to so it should be a good weekend for me. Take care! XoX!!!

PJ Harvey - Rid of Me
Pardon my french but I fucking love this woman! The album version of this song is great but man, this live version kills it. Wow! Rid of Me is just an amazing album...as is To Bring You My Love. All her albums are great but those two are the ones I find myself listening to most. There needs to be more PJ's in the music world...more now than ever before!

A lil' bit to why Enid is my hero

I love the film Ghost World. No, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! ^_^ Wow, I can really relate to Enid in so many ways...though she is much more sassier (word ?) than me. And the comics are equally as great (what the film is based off of). Hm, I think I have all of Daniel Clowes trades...if not all, then most. Got a bit hooked after I saw Ghost World. He's such a great writer and he always makes the women very tough...and never in a bitchy way. Jeez, why can't all guys write (and think) that way!?! Hope you enjoy one of my fave clips!~

Shangri-Las

It amazes me that this very young & petite girl has SUCH an amazing voice. Wow. Been listening to the Shangri-Las and Lesley Gore lately. I've learned lots about both of 'em over the past several days too. For example: I didn't know the Shangri-Las were not the typical kind of girl group, especially for being around in the 1960's. They had quite the "bad girl" image & sound...singing about darker topics, including death, quite often. Oh and that the Shangri-Las consisted of TWO sets of sisters, one set being identical twins.
Again, would love to sing one of their songs when the BLG (my band, the Bloody Little Girls) gets back to making music. And just watching this video inspires me in so many ways. Hope you enjoy it!~

You Don't Own Me
OK, so I won't ALWAYS be posting about art. I know you guys are ok with that. ;) Well, I posted this live video on my FaceBook the other day and JEEZ, I got CHILLS. Lesley Gore was (well IS, she's still alive) awesome. I think I have one of her Best Of CD's but darn, I can't find it...yeah, art room is still a mess....and lots of art stuff is in front of most of my CD's-ergh.
As some of you know I love female singers...and from all eras...and the 60's was quite an amazing time for women, imo. If (and when) we get the band going again (yes, I sing...not very well, and Mike & roomie Tom and I just do it for fun...if you want the MySpace link, just lemme know, lol)...so yeah when we get the band rollin' I would definitely LOVE to sing (or scream or spoken word or rant) this song.
OK, here it is...think I've watched it like 15 times by now...but it's short...but awesome. Enjoy!~

"Brush it up, rip it down, expensive glorified wallpaper..."
Mike and I recently bought a 3 song EP off I-tunes. And I am really loving this song by CHICKS ON SPEED. (The other 2 songs are remixes.) They know A LOT about lots of things...but the 3 main things they seem to write/sing about is: ART, our CULTURE in general (and how crazy it can be), and well, being a girl cuz it's an ALL GIRL BAND. Hm...I'd give my left ear to see 'em live. Yes, just like Van Gogh! ;}
Please enjoy "Art Rules." I posted the lyrics because they are...AWESOME...and the song is too of course! (I guess I'm beginning to see art a lil' differently since opening an ETSY shop but I have kinda always felt this way about ART in general) ...I mean really "Where are ALL the women?" Oh, "Underneath the men." So very very true! Hope this entertains you!~
ART RULES
Brush it up...
I'll start a recipe...
It's two cups of gelitin,
mix it well, stir a concept,
technology as well.
Whip in some finance
a pinch of cocaine,
add a harmless scandal,
a media plan
all cooked up by a right hand man
- right hand man.
Andy Warhol, Valie Export,
what is juxtaposition?
Art is a playground
for people who have everything.
The rich will always be with us,
Art Basel, Miami,
the Venice Biennale
more controlled than lottery
Always modern, who's on top,
the artists or the dealers?
Where are all the women,
they are underneath the men.
Invest in a collection
or buy credibility.
Who cares about the content,
just match the tapestry.
/* CHORUS-TWICE
Brush it up, rip it down,
expensive glorified wallpaper,
Brush it up, rip it down,
art's the rule, cash the tool! */
Are you a nobody,
who'd die and get famous,
your own retrospective
at just 33!
What looks good today,
will it look good tomorrow?
Destroy your career
in one brush stroke,
Art in public spaces,
government founded crap,
the buro-arty-experts
their hands under the tap
Project one hit wonders
always in the front row.
It's Jeffrey Deitch,
that heat seeking missile.
/* CHORUS */
Joseph Beuys had no choice,
felt and fat on his hat
Lit up the art world
with this lemon light bulb.
Miss Tracey's gossip column
which handbag did you buy?
It's a game, lets have sex,
but you are too drunk again.
Charles Saatchis burning,
he's lost his edge on taste
He's so now and then,
he puts his art to waste.
Jake and Dinos Chapman,
they're selling masterpieces
Dog returns to vomit
now is this really art?
/* CHORUS */

Alice & Lewis Carroll Print-signed, yay!
Yay, I got my Alice & Lewis Carroll print in the mail yesterday. And it was signed, as I requested. My first signed artist print-oh boy! I had a choice to get it on the front or back & I chose back because I didn't want the artwork to be 'touched.' Maybe in the future I'd get one with her name & to Eve on the front....maybe.The artist is Jasmine Beckett-Griffith and her work can be found HERE. She does all types of art from fairies to Alice in Wonderland to gothic girls (& everything inbetween). I have 2 previous prints from her hanging in my living room-one Alice (Steampunk w/clocks)...
and the other is called The Scarlet Sofa
(sofa is just like this one but with a gothic girl on it).
She is definitely one of my fave artists.
And I've talked to her via email a couple times &...
she seems really sweet too!
Here it is framed in my bedroom to the left of my tv & entertainment center (w/Dunnys & other toys on it). Lewis Carroll is painted a bit more ghostly than Alice. Meaning: he looks a bit unfinished when you look closely at him (can't really see that in the very top pic)...
but that's kinda cool, I think.
Sooo, my TV is right in front of my bed so I can either glance over at it while watching television or when I'm listening to music (and in my bed)...or whatever else I might be doing in bed. And get your mind out of the gutters, people! I'm talking about doing art stuff...which I do on my comfy bed sometimes. ;}

Abnormally Attracted To Sin
I just love TORI...Amos that is. (Does she really need a last name?!?...There's not many Tori's out there!) I have all of her albums and let me tell you, she is quite a talented & strong woman. She's been through A LOT and I know this since I've been following her career for about 15 years now. Her greatly titled album Abnormally Attracted To Sin comes out May 19th. I already pre-ordered it off Amazon, yay!Oh, & if you haven't seen this lady LIVE yet, you're very naughty. Her tickets may be a bit pricey but trust me when I say it's worth every penny. Can't wait to see her again. And seeing her in an outdoor venue is even cooler.
Have a good Tuesday everyone!~

This Is For Jenny
Oh boy, the good ol' days when MTV was actually pretty decent...mid 90's or so. This clip made me think of Jennylee, one of my oldest friends. This is a "preview" of what's to come soon because I'm gonna write something about one of these ladies. Can you guess which one?...Can you guess what it'll be about?...*Hint hint: next month marks an anniversary of something & no it isn't regarding a death. I bet only one person can guess the right answer. We'll see...;}

Honest Scrap Award

wow, i got my 1st blogger award thanks to Irish Chicken Soup @ Vitrifying Hearts. she's really cool, check out her blogger too. this award is called the Honest Scrap Award. so with this award you are supposed to pass it along to 7 fellow bloggers that you find great in content/design. well, i don't read too many blogs, so i'm gonna do 5. and then you're supposed to show their names, their link, & leave a little comment on your blogger. then they, once they read that they have WON this award, list 10 Honest Things About Themselves. and with that, i have to do my Honest Things list since she chose me. so here i go...
10) give me a time, any time at all, and i'll be late. why? just cuz it's cool to be fashionably late, right?! (no really, it's cuz i'm the white rabbit...I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!...)
9) one of the VERY first things i do after i wake up is turn on the computer. well, it does take a few minutes to get it going afterall...
8) i am no domestic goddess. i can't cook or clean to save my life.
7) i daydream a lot. i blame being a pisces on this though (constant battle between the reality world & the fantasy world)! i know, i know...that's no excuse! :)
6) i have the oiliest skin, ever. i hate it. especially in the summer...all my makeup literally rolls off my face-gross!
5) when i really REALLY like something/someone, i can get quite obsessed & fast too. and i won't stop talking about it for a while...usually.
4) when i was very young, i liked HAIR bands from the 80's. yeah. i know some of those songs like the back of my hand. Bon Jovi, Poison, etc...but ooo it comes in handy now, i can rock 'em all on RockBand.
3) if i had the $$$ & nice slender body, i'd dress Gothic Lolita style. ready for my name drop? yeah, i made a lil' blogger, Gothic Lolita Love, the other day about my love for this style and some things gothic as well. check it out yous!
2) this is the BIG one. i have a fascination with suicide. and have since i was young. NO, it's not what you're thinking! see, everything about this topic makes me curious. i don't see it as a morbid thing to think about...i see it as pure curiosity. for example: do you know that there's such a thing as suicidology? that means the study and prevention of suicide. and i'd actually consider becoming a suicidologist to understand it better & try to help peeps. that's a real term also. i wouldn't lie to you...
1) ...well, maybe i would because Eve is not my real name. but "this is not reality."-line from a Crud song (local Detroit band)...wait, was this really the BIG one?!?
i really enjoy reading your posts & you are a very talented artist. & thanks for being my #1 commenter. i appreciate it lots!
Luna @ Luna's Imagination
1st, i gotta thank you for getting me to blog. also, i wouldn't know much about what's happening in the world if it weren't for your posts.

i'm so glad you're blogging! i really like reading your posts. & i hope you continue to write because i know it helps in many ways. you rock, dahhllling!

I LOVE Lulu...OH & Happy Xmas Eve!

hey curious ones. happy xmas eve to you all. i am feeling a lot better compared to sunday, monday, & some of yesterday too. i had good talks with people, including the peeps directly involved in the situation so we're all feeling a bit better about things. of course there's problems that can't be solved overnight, so for right now we ALL just want to get through the holiday season. but at the same time, i think some small things were solved atleast between room mate & i because i couldn't take the avoiding/ignoring that has been going on since sunday. we needed to talk because more was going on with him than i thought (meaning he was having issues w/me & told mike, not me).
so i didn't say "well, mike said this...," i just said if you want to tell me anything or ask anything i'm always hear to listen & will try my best to not take offense to what you say. maybe he assumed mike said something to me, or not, doesn't really matter. what matters is i didn't want to be living with someone who would be avoiding me just because he felt like he couldn't talk to me personally. so i'm glad that lil' part is solved. the mike part?....well, that's going to have to be a process. and i think we made some headway & we'll just go from there. that'll definitely be new years resolution #1!!!
so today i'm going to be crazy & go to a couple stores. wanna know how i got these scars? i mean wanna know why? cuz i heard a rumor that joker wrapping paper is at a store (Kmart), so i gotta get over there today. well, i just HAVE to of course. & mike can wrap my presents w/that sweet stuff. yay yay yay...wish me luck that it's there & not sold out! i found this out yesterday when i went to Blockbuster & bought a sweet (small) new joker poster (it's 3-D & has him in the middle & all the clown masks around him w/ha ha ha written in red on joker's face, freakin' sweet!). the lady ringing me up told me about the paper, & if the weather wasn't SO crappy last night i would've went. ooo, i can't wait to see what it looks like. sounds wonderful! curious eve...
so the pic above & below is a character from a video game & i think she ROCKS! her name is Lulu & she's from one of the Final Fantasy games. i'm not into games, besides RockBand, but years ago, mike showed me this girl & i thought she was SO awesome. she's very pretty & has the coolest outfit (and even has a lil' stuffed animal w/her-i know that has something to do w/FF). Yes, her boobs are WAY huge, but other than that, i love her look lots & even bought a nice plastic doll of her a while back. & darn it, i bet it's still in storage at my parent's house. cuz i know i didn't get rid of it. plus i love the name Lulu, so it all RULES! i'll take a pic when i find that toy.
hope you all have a wonderful day. i'm going to mike's grandparents later on & then tomorrow i'll be going to my parent's, mike's parents, and finally my sister's house for the BIG party w/all the nieces & nephews, etc...So i'm gonna start getting ready so i can find that wrapping paper...and maybe those darn junior mints. have a good one!!!
