CocoRosie: Werewolf Live

CocoRosie: Gallows

CocoRosie: Terrible Angels

CocoRosie: Lemonade

CocoRosie: Gravediggress Live

I have fallen in love very fast with...
CocoRosie.
And now I just want to consume as much music, videos, etc...on them.

So strange....
I cannot believe I didn't know much about them years ago.
I guess I fell out of the music loop a little.
So much garbage (music) has come out...
and hm, this beautiful gem must've slipped through the cracks somehow.
But wow, I am so happy that I have discovered them.
It's like finding a lost friend....
who you have a very special connection with...
like you have known them forever when you first meet.
That's what this particular song/performance made me feel.

And I love it when music + art combine in this way...
CocoRosie has to be seen live to be fully appreciated I think.
I didn't know which album to get first...tough tough decision...
so I went with Grey Oceans
because I love "Lemonade" and "Gallows" so much.
My other faves are the other videos I've posted.
May get the first or most current album next.
Will see!

Take care friends, xox, eve

The Kills at the Magic Stick

I wasn't able to get any shots...I was toooo far away unfortunately. :( But the pics below I took...

First up, the merchandise! Here's the merch table for all 3 bands. The Kills merch being at the end on the right. Mike wanted a shirt but I really didn't want one...didn't want another black shirt...don't really like white shirts...and they had a red one but...

...he wanted that one & got it. Which I didn't mind cuz I wanted something different anyhow. This is the front and the back only has the words 'The Kills' at the top. He liked this shirt because they ALL hate you, ha ha. No, he said afterwards he wanted it because it said Detroit Hates You-didn't even notice that when I was looking at it there.

We were curious to were there's a Georgia (city) or Seven Sisters (city). I looked both up and there's two Georgias-one in Indiana & one in Vermont. We couldn't figure out were Seven Sisters (presumably a city) was at...if anyone knows, lemme know!

I did want something though...either the tote bag or a set of postcards. So I got the tote. I HEART totes (from concerts) these days. And this was a really cool image & a tote you can 'wear' every day unlike a shirt...and it'll last longer. I got into band totes with MSI...then got 'em from Gogol Bordello's concert, Ladytron's, and now The Kills. I could be forgetting one or two though...hmm....

AND a very sweet thing was if your purchase came to $20 (which a t-shirt cost), then you get this sweet mirror (aka: looking-glass) above. So basically with every shirt you get the mirror...Mike gave me his, uhh yeah, he just HAD to!

And this is the actual mirror side...very cool idea! I really like to get something different from a concert nowadays besides a t-shirt. Like tour books, cups, totes, etc...

OK, now for my mini-review...

The Kills were really great in concert Friday night. Didn't care for one of their openers, The Horrors, but as my previous post said, Magic Wands (first opening act) were REALLY good. So for the main band-The Kills are so interesting and fun to watch, and it's just Hotel (Jamie, he's the guitarist) & VV (the singer, sometimes other guitarist) up there. Lots of energy and rockin' good music. VV aka: Allsion is crazy live but I love that. Actually they both were but more so her...she really reminded me of Janis Joplin if I had to compare her to another rockin' lady. Her voice might not be as soulful but her stage presence & attitude was very Janis-like. Oh & she sang "Crazy" by Patsy Cline (right!?) and that was pretty cool. And all this fun for only $15 bucks?...it was definitely worth every penny!

My only complaints were that the Magic Stick has this ongoing issue where they f*ck up the sound & they (Kills) had to stop & get set up again during the first song. Plus it was over packed in the club (my opinion cuz I've never seen so many peeps in that place before). And we had some BIG @ssholes in front of us at the VIP table. You could tell they weren't really there for the concert...a few of 'em even left halfway through the show-WTH!?? One guy was really annoying...he kept trying to caress & molest (well, practically) his date although she looked like she wanted nothing to do with him. Mike & I pretty much felt like punching him in the face (he did other things like putting his cigarette so freakin' close to us, cuz he was sitting & we were standing right behind him). So thank goodness he left! I hate peeps like that. Ugh!

Overall, it was a great concert and I am going to get there EARLY next time so I can get main floor, front & center (cuz I really wanted some pics). That was a bummer but again, Mike & I were late so it was expected. Definitely one of the best indie rock bands around today.
Check 'em out live if they ever come to your town if ya can!~

From my concert, Friday night, at the Magic Stick
(not my video though)
Funny thing though, this is very close to the view I had of 'em:

This Is For Jenny

Oh boy, the good ol' days when MTV was actually pretty decent...mid 90's or so. This clip made me think of Jennylee, one of my oldest friends. This is a "preview" of what's to come soon because I'm gonna write something about one of these ladies. Can you guess which one?...Can you guess what it'll be about?...*Hint hint: next month marks an anniversary of something & no it isn't regarding a death. I bet only one person can guess the right answer. We'll see...;}

Happy Day After Xmas...& Ladytron

hi peeps. how's the day after xmas going for you? i'm fine...not ready yet, and it's almost 11am...ugh, but mike's still asleep so i don't feel too bad. i wanted to get up & get some xmas deals but ug, i'm not feeling it...plus peeps out there are so crazy that it's not worth it in the end. soooo, later on i'll go out. the weather doesn't seem too bad so that's good. don't wanna go when it's pouring rain (which it did the other day) or a blizzard (the other day)...but one thing is for sure, the ice is out & it's right where i get into my car...so that's never fun. oooo, the winter time!!! the joy.

so here's a video by one of my favorite bands, Ladytron. i've liked them for quite a while and this is prob still my fave song by 'em. i saw them live this year & it was one of the best shows i've ever been too. i was sooooo happy. here's hoping to some good concerts in 2009! i know i'll be seeing Mindless Self Indulgence in March so that should rock as usual...think that'll be MSI show #6 or #7 for me...and within about 3 years, so that's kinda a lot. have a good one.~

hi everyone. thank you all for reading & commenting on yesterday's blog (i know it was quite a long one). i really appreciate it. so right now i'm going to post a live performance by the Horrorpops on Jimmy Kimmel (why does he get such great bands on there sometimes?!?). they are...AWESOME! i missed them when they toured Detroit last but i'm gonna try my hardest not to miss 'em again. their album is definitely in my top 10 of 2008 (check out that post cuz i don't think many peeps have, from several days ago). she, Patricia, is one rockin' chick who is a great singer & plays an upright bass too-she RULES. so this may be my only post for the day cuz i'm going to be busy...but we'll see. but for right now, enjoy the Horrorpops.~

Fade Into You

i really liked this song, Fade Into You by Mazzy Star, when i was young, maybe 13-14. and God i didn't realize that it was SO sad, and that it really meant something to me in my life then. this song was also very meaningful over the years with certain peeps in my life. i was re-introduced to this band within the last six months or so, & fell in love all over again w/Hope's lovely voice & lyrics. and the music is so haunting & beautiful also. i remember this video was on MTV a lot when it first came out. ha, but that was when MTV actually played videos. those were the good ol' days. Warning: sad sad song...prob one of the saddest i've ever heard.

Amanda Palmer Concert TONIGHT

amanda palmer Pictures, Images and Photos

miss amanda palmer (of dresden dolls fame) will be performing tonight in ferndale, michigan for her first solo tour. i am SO excited to go...and hope i get a good spot...and hope i can bring in my camera. most places are good about that, but idk, haven't been to this venue in a while. and it's funny every blue moon when a security person asks 'do you have a camera in your bag/purse?' innocent me-"no." ha, come on. like i would really say 'yeah!' so many peeps sneak in cameras...i mean who really cares? & everyONE has a camera phone anyways. i can understand that they don't want the flash going off constantly but other than that, who really cares especially when a newspaper person(s) are snapping away all freakin' night.

OH & if you've never heard the dresden dolls before, you are missing out. and amanda's solo work is just as great too. plus the dresden dolls show was one of the most fun shows i've ever been to. and to top it all off, she's one bad ass rocker chick! she gives 200%-love her!<3
