Art-o-Mat at Detroit Comics

Today I was out and about (early for a change too!) so I decided to take a little drive to Ferndale. It's a very cool little city near Royal Oak (you all know I go there often). So I mainly went to Ferndale to check out the Art-o-Mat machine at Detroit Comics. I've only heard of it recently from Took, who was the winner of my last giveaway. But ever since I heard of it from her, I've REALLY wanted to go and today was a perfect day (up early, no work, and nice out).

So what is an Art-o-Mat you might be wondering? Well, the Art-o-Mat dispenses original art works by artists from all over the USA. The Art-o-Mat itself is a retired cigarette vending machine. So basically what you do is....

...look at the different artists & a sample of their art (or description) above each knob.

Then you make your decision, pull the knob...and a second later, your art will come out. (Kerplunk-the noise when it drops down) Yay! Cool, right?

And here's some info (much I've already said) on the Art-o-Mat. So you might be wondering which ones did I choose? I originally thought I'd get TWO art pieces but after seeing ALL the art (and not knowing when I'd come back again), I decided to get THREE. I will show them below.

I chose this one and got...

...this beautiful image on wood. I love trees so I was very happy to get this one by artist Jessica Guptill.

The next one I chose was by an artist named Herbert Hoover. No picture of his art but the description was "hand cast pewter objects." I thought that was pretty interesting so I got...

...a cracker! Oooo, I wonder what it would look like!

And it looks like...a cracker! But a shiny silver cracker. ;) Very cool!

And lastly I said What The Heck and got one more cuz my eye kept going back to this image by artist Julie Armbruster. So if my eye is going back to look it means GET NOW EVE! LOL.

So I saw this cute little white whale...and thought HM, love it and I'm sure her art is cool.

And what do you know, I got the whale on wood! Yay! Mission accomplished. Thanks so much Took for telling me about the Art-o-Mat, I'm sure I will visit it soon again. If you'd like to check out Took's Blog (she is also an Art-o-Mat artist) please go HERE. If you'd like to check out the Art-o-Mat website please go HERE.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!~

Hanging out with Jenny, Pure Trance, and Fortune Pork Toys

You will soon learn about FORTUNE PORK...
it's something really cool & cute.
Made by KidRobot, as usual...
and the toys were cute as was the packagaing.

Sooo...here's a lil' about when I took Jenny for the 1st time...
to LIFT art gallery/toy store.
We also ate and walked around...
picks of my COOL finding will come soon.

But in the meantime, here's some pics...
from our little journey to Royal Oak...
We ate at Noodles & Company which is really good.
I got the Pesto Cavatappi...
Jenny got something Asian I think...and spicy.
Very good food. I would definitely go back.
She was 20...I was lucky number 13, yay!!!
Cuz they bring the food to your table-
how cool & nice!

Mine is the green one...looks a lil' odd but was very good!

So, after we ate, we opened my two blindboxed toys.
I got another Pure Trance toy (my last I swear!)...
and now I have four...all different, very cool!

And I got the COOL girl figure...
that I REALLY REALLY wanted...
the most...
above all the other Pure Trance toys.
Jenny is beginning to become my good luck charm...
because...
I let her open my boxes...
since she didn't get anything at LIFT.
Was VERY fun watching her....
and I didn't mind...
cuz Lord knows that...
I have opened quite a lof of blind boxed toys! ;}

Here's me holding my Fortune Pork (Series 2) blind box.
Wonder what's inside?
These are 3 inch Mini Plush Toys.

Part 1: taking the foil wrapper out of the box.
(Technically this is part two...
Jenny opened it with a knife from the bottom...
IDK how I skipped over loading it...)
Darn!!!

And I got...
A purple lil' pup called Ruffty...ruff ruff!!!
I think he's very cute!

Each toy/character has small lil' story.
Which I love.
Jenny is telling me about Ruffty...
and he sounds just like Bibi.
A very loving doggie...awww.

Curious about this pic below???
Can you guess what I'm holding???
Can you guess WHERE I bought it from?...
HINT: came from Royal Oak.
From the ___ store.

Hmm...???....

Oh and don't I look so seductive with my lollipop!??
ha ha...
Guess you're gonna have to wait and see.
Take care~

Sticky & Sweet Art Show @ 323 East Gallery

Several weeks back I went to an art show at 323 East Gallery in Royal Oak.
It was called the STICKY & SWEET show featuring works by Audrey Pongracz and Kill Taupe. I enjoy both artists work but honestly really really enjoy Audrey's work quite a lot. And was hoping to get to chat with her for a second. And yay, luckily I was able to. Mainly because I got there pretty early...for once, believe it or not!

She was SUPER cool and she let me take pics of her pieces on the walls and some of her, as you will see below. Recently, she was named BEST LOCAL ARTIST by local Detroit magazine, REAL DETROIT, which is a BIG DEAL if you ask me.

We chatted about many things and found out we had many similar interests in the art/artists we like-yay Ryden & Tara McPherson! As well as our BIG love for music and...skeleton keys! Yes, skeletons keys rule. She even had one around her neck on a necklace that I thought was pretty sweet! (She even told me a good place to find 'em-how cool!)

Had a really great time, despite the HUMIDITY-was terrible that day...and 323 didn't have any air. So that's why you won't see any pics of me...was sweating like a PIG. Ugh, gross...but anyways...if you'd like to check out Audrey's work, please click here. And for her BLOG, please click here.

Enjoy the pics and have a good Sunday friends!!!

Audrey posing in front of one of her great pieces at the show.

Any ART SHOW with candy & cookies is my type of place!!!

You wanna drink, any drink, it was there!!!
I had a Strawberry Daciquiri (spelling!?...)
{can you tell I really don't drink this kinda stuff}...
but was honestly SOOOO SWEEEEEET,
that I had to put in tons of ICE to un-sweeten it a bit.

What a SWEET tattoo of Audrey's!
Heck yes, for 1979...
hm I know someone else born & copyrighted this year...
do you know who it is???

Audrey's work...

Kill Taupe's work...

Unsure of this artist's name...
but really liked his/her work...
like the one below...
which I wanted to purchase but didn't have THAT much $$ on me...
it was $100, which isn't bad...
maybe it'll be there when I go back in the future....
it's....

my fave ALICE character...
THE CHESHIRE CAT!!!
And just look at how awesome & happy he looks!!!

Kill Taupe again...
HIS work is quite awesome too!!!

E is for EVE...but of course!!!

I overheard Audrey say this was her FAVE piece of the Sticky & Sweet pieces...
so I got a shot...
it's called MATINEE...
very very awesome!

Had a really great time & it was so nice to finally meet you, Audrey!
Hope to see you at other shows soon! You are a really cool & sweet lady!

(Oh and don't forget peeps to click on the image to see it FULL SIZE...
and you really want to do that (for your benefit)...
on these pics...
since they are much bigger & sweeter...
in PERSON, than these tiny thumbnail pics!!!)

Take care my friends~

Off to court and Update

...in a little bit for my driving ticket. Kinda scared but everyone at work said it'll be fine. Soooo I'm trusting 'em....:) I just don't like the idea of it all....never been to court before for anything. Would be SWEEEET if they waived BOTH the points and my fine.....but really just wanting 'em to waive the points cuz that would suck if not. I only got one ticket in my life before-for speeding a while back-so my record is pretty clean! So I guess I'll see what happens. Wish me luck and chat with you later.~

UPDATE @ 5:45 PM: Everything went well. I didn't get any points-yay! And the judge was super cool....to everyone! Probably because she was a WOMAN...just kidding. But seriously, she let almost all the peeps that testified I saw 'off the hook' with the points...but still having them pay their fine or reducing the fine. You either said "Responsible" "Responsible with Explanation" or "Not Responsible." If you say NOT responsible, you have to raise your right hand & swear to tell the truth....etc....

I was responsible of course....crossed too many lanes to get to the other side (the turn around across the MAIN road)....& I'm never doing that again. I mean it! I've been a very cautious driver since that ticket....I'm an ANGEL on the road I tell ya! ^_^ (Well, I do still speed through SOME yellow lights...but hey, you can't be perfect, right!??)

I plan to write just a tad more about this incident on my personal blog...cuz something CURIOUS happened that I don't want to chat about here. It's nothing bad...just something I don't wanna talk about here, tis all....& curious of course. Again, if you'd like to JOIN/FOLLOW that blog, please leave your email address in my comments. Or send it (if you don't wanna put it in the comments-I will delete it after you leave it though) to my email which is...ghostgirl6@gmail.com & then I'll send you the TOP SECRET link. ;}

Thanks and take care all.~

Carnival Pics: Part 2 of 2

The pics below will conclude my visit to the carnival in my local mall's parking lot. Strange, they didn't have a Ferris Wheel...the pic below is the Ring of Fire actually. I don't think I would've went on the Wheel anyways...BUT I wanted to play a game or two (but it ended at 10pm & I got there right before 10, sad!).

Ok, the game is where the money/tokens fall down & you push 'em with your tokens to get 'em to fall....(whatever that game is called...though you NEVER win!) But then again, what carnival games do you ever win? You end up spending 40 bucks on like a 5 dollar (or less) stuffed animal, right?....but it's fun to do every once in a while.

But I wanted to say this: The funniest thing I saw near the Carnival happened a day or two before the Carnival started. I was driving through the mall parking lot & saw about five 16-20 something 'alternative' looking girls gathered around a tree. And the girl in the middle had pink hair and was playing an acoustic guitar.

It was an interesting thing to see...kinda funny to see 'em out in the parking lot in one of those spaces that has a lil' bit of grass with a tree. I was tempted to stop and take a listen...but I had bargains to find (ha ha...well, in the end I thought it'd be kinda odd for me to get out of my car & chat with 'em)!!! OK, I'll let ya look at the pics now. I think these ones are my BETTER shots...didn't plan it that way either. ;} Enjoy.~

Oh & as usual, please click on any image below to see it larger. ^_^

There they are ROXY-funnel cakes! I must not have been to a carnival in forever cuz I don't ever remember seeing 'em...unless I was so into getting my Elephant Ear. Which I didn't get....I had to get a corn dog. For some reason they taste VERY good at the carnival...anywhere else, I doubt they be as good. ;}

OK, this is the very creepy department store that is out of business (and has been for a while) at my mall. The Carnival took place in front of it. It used to be a Value City & before that a Crowleys. And it always looks creepy if you ask me. I remember one day during the dead of winter seeing snow fall off the top of that building and it was very VERY cool but creepy looking. I wanted to take a pic but I don't think my cellphone could've captured it very well. I always remember that...it was quite an interesting sight to see!

Good thing about this Carnival was that since it was in front of that out of business department store, there was LOTS of parking. Where at some Carnivals you gotta park a million miles away. I think I took this shot as I was about to get in my car.
Bye Carnival...they were just packing up the rest of the stuff today. I hope you come back to Macomb Mall next year...and bring the Ferris Wheel so I can get some shots of it!!!
Take care friends.~

FYI: A great sale for us artists & crafters

Hi everyone. About an hour ago, I went to get our dinner and I had 15 minutes to spare...and the closest thing around to the restaurant was a JOANN's (fabric and craft) store. So of course I had to take a stop in...since I've been gathering ideas and creating things for my soon-to-be Etsy Shop. But little did I know that quite a BIG & great sale is currently going on (from the 14th through the 20th). It's called the FIREFLY FRENZY SALE...and SO much is on sale. Please click HERE to see some of the stuff on sale on their website and in the store too.

My local JoAnn's is MASSIVE...but I think most are, right? So I kinda just ran around like a chicken with its head cut off after I kept seeing ALL these signs for certain things I wanted on sale. So the first thing I saw that I was like "MUST GET" was the scrapbook single sheets...they were 6 for .96 cents! Quite a wonderful deal considering they normally are .59 cents each (there's ones for .99 and higher but this sale applies only to the .59 cents ones, which is fine because there are still nice ones there).

Another thing I looked at (for my upcoming projects) were pendants. They were 25-30% off...certain ones though. Manor House pendants were included in this sale, as well as Noir ones. I got several Manor House ones because again, What a DEAL! I wanted to look around more but I had to get our food before it got cold so I went up to the front....and waited...and waited...and waited....in line. Why does my JoAnn's always have just one cashier...and on a Sunday!?? WTH!?? I guess it helps that when the refunds/customer service girl isn't busy, she can help ring up peeps too. But God, I go in there knowing I will have to wait atleast 10 minutes in line-and that sucks!

So for all of you artists & crafters know that there IS an awesome sale going on at JOANN's...and check out their website to see more...or just stop on in one day this week. I haven't seen a sale like this at a craft store in forever so I will definitely be making a couple more stops there. (Oh, and I got some scrapbook sheets for only .10 cents each-on the clearance table. I thought someone just left 'em there but nope, just ones peeps didn't like-one had cute lil' drawn terrier doggies and the other was a very pretty flower image. I'll have to check out that table again when I stop back in.) If any of you ladies go, let me know what you got on sale, if you'd like....you can post it on this blog entry. ^_^

Take care & enjoy the rest of your Sunday!~
