Imperative Reaction...not coming to Detroit, nooooo

UGH! One of my fave bands is not coming to my state for their latest tour. This upsets me so much. Darn darn darn! I was looking forward to it like you wouldn't believe. So odd because Detroit loves 'em and draws a good crowd. Well, I will try not to get too bummed....and hope some other good shows will be happening this summer.

Cold Cave - Confetti

I saw this band open for The Kills and wow, they were amazing. Their bass was soooo loud live too...my bones were shaking. But in a good way. I guess they call this music "darkwave"...uh huh. Enjoy!

Angelspit LIVE *Pic Heavy*

Saw KMFDM last night. So hm, that's about 4 times now. Angelspit (industrial duo from Australia) opened. And they were awesome. KMFDM on the other hand, not so awesome. But their last few albums have been pretty similar sounding so I kinda knew what I was in for last night.

As for Angelspit-I love Destroyx (girl singer) and Zoog (guy singer/musician) is pretty cool too. Destroyx is a jack-of-all-trades...meaning she designs their clothing, album covers, etc. Not to mention she has her own clothing, jewelry, accessory, and makeup lines called Miss X.

They had (by far) the coolest merchandise I've ever seen at a concert! Probably because they had so much to choose from. They had t-shirts of course but I always want something different from shows lately (and do you really want to know how many t-shirts I have?). So there was plenty to choose from. But with that means hard decisions with so much...so I opted for something I've never seen at a show before...it's called the First Aid pack.

And although I don't have pics of it up here yet, it has some pretty sweet merch in it. And all being in a cool red tote bad with lots of "first aid-ish" goodies like a keychain pill holder (yes looks like a red & white pill) to dog tags to stickers to more. Loved it. (Pics will come once I sort it out a bit...some will go to Mike, but most is mine...well, he got the sweet Alice In Vulgarland shirt now! Yes, SHE (Destroyx) loves Alice In Wonderland. I even bought a black eyeshadow from her makeup line (yes, a lot of her makeup was at the show) called Black Alice. Will try it out for the DAMNED show.

OK, here's some pics. None of KMFDM. But that's ok, as those pics probably wouldn't have been as cool! ;) A lot of pics were taken in 'night time mode'-hence the darkness & color being a bit...different. More artsy I know...but I didn't plan it...the camera is kinda sucky but sometimes in a cool way. Oh and the stage was up high. Really really high. The highest I've ever seen at a venue...probably about 6-7 feet. That's why I could never get a full body shot of Destroyx or Zoog. And was zoomed to the max most the times too. OK, enough blabbing...enjoy the pics!

Probably my best shot of Destroyx. But I still took more. I can't help it. I'm always looking for the better shot. And because I love to take pictures...as many of you know. ;)

Zoog with this pill shaped musical...something or another.

Love this bizarre shot of Destroyx. And the one of Zoog below is also a personal fave.

Me and Destroyx. She's really really pretty & sweet and nice. I had her sign a poster I got in my "First Aid" merch pack. I'll show that to you guys later. I liked what she wrote. :)

Mike and Zoog. He was just as nice but a little intimidating for me at first...

...maybe because he's a giant to lil' ol' me. ;) Yes, his hair. It's not hair. It's these leather (fake leather?) strips with holes in 'em. Very unique. I asked to take a pic of 'em and he said SURE.

That's one part of the venue. We were sitting at a table over that. But for Angelspit we went down to the "pit" of course...where it was really tame. Kinda sad about this concert. Maybe 150 were there. Not a good turnout...and it was KMFDM's 25th anniversary tour...but as I said I wasn't very impressed. It was really really HEAVY. Not saying I don't like that...but I was waiting for more of the electronic-driven songs but nope...maybe a few. Wasn't so great...and Mike even said so too...which is rare because he doesn't like to say anything bad (or honest) much. Still, it was great to watch and meet Angelspit (and get some of their sweet merch).
FYI: I may not announce the winners tomorrow for the GIVEAWAY. Depends. I have things that are going on (out of my control) and Monday would be a better day for me. So you know have until (some time) Monday to get your suggestions in...and that means if you already gave a suggestion (and have a blog too) then you can do a post on YOUR blog and get another chance to suggest something...which means another chance to win either prize pack. Sorry to push it back but it's been (and still is) a crazy & busy (and freezing!) weekend.
Take care & best of luck to all the people who have suggested something to me thus far. As I said before, will be VERY hard to just pick one BIG winner...but I think I know who it is. K, take care (again) and adios for now.~

Happy 9=9=9 Everyone!

Hi friends. Happy 9=9=09 to you all! Very cool day indeed! (and it's Dunny Day too...woo hoo!)

Well, sadly I wasn't able to go to my concert last night. The girl I was supposed to go with couldn't go and I barely had any time to find someone to go with me...and the people who possibly could've went, were busy, of course. But that's ok (as much as I hate to say it)...I'll just never buy a ticket in the future without knowing for sure (atleast 75% sure) that someone will be going with me. Live and learn right?

Anyways Dunny series 2009 comes out today...but they don't come out until later tonight. And I'll be working so sadly I can't pick any up today...but maybe tomorrow...though I work at noon. I just might get too anxious and go to LIFT beforehand...I may not be able to contain myself. ;) I'll see how I feel about it by tomorrow.

In the meantime, I discovered a new blog. It's all about pop culture...and...and...ART TOYS. I rarely find any blogs that I'm like "That's my kinda blog!" anymore so if you're interested please check out it out HERE. OK, well, I have a somewhat busy day ahead of me. I'm off to an appointment as soon as I'm done typing this. So please enjoy 9-9-9 fellow friends & followers and chat with you later. ~XoX, Eve

Fischerspooner LIVE in Detroit last night

Last night I saw Fischerspooner LIVE.
And only one word can describe the experience...
A-MAZ-ING!

I took more pictures than I thought but I'm really glad I did. So instead of posting ALL of 'em here, which I'd love to but Flickr is a much more easier place, I invite you all to check out my live pics on my Flickr account. My Fischerspooner live pictures can be found HERE. I recommend checking 'em out as a slideshow because they go in order. And because I think it shows the experience from start to finish better.

I didn't think Mike and would get such great spots-front row, to the left side. Mainly because we were 2 hours late (bad Eve, I know!)...& we missed the first opener...and half of the 2nd opener but that wasn't too big of a deal. These photos are very....hm...different. Probably because there was SOOO much movement and so many lights going on. I don't think they're bad, I actually think they look cooler because of those factors.
But take a look and let me know what ya think.
:)

Below are a couple pictures that I took at my show. And at the very bottom is a YouTube live clip of Fischerspooner on May 7th in NYC. This is pretty much the same thing I saw last night. Enjoy the clip as well as my pics, if you dare to take a peek!

Oh, and good Monday to you all!!!

They used these mirrors throughout the night.
And you know I love me some mirrors, aka: looking-glasses!

O.K. They have technical difficulties less than 1/2 way into the song....but please keep watching. They get back on track very quickly...you don't want to miss the really cool dancers in their yellow tutus, now do you!??!

11. What are you doing tomorrow?
OH my...I slept so now I gotta pay for that. But the BIG thing tomorrow is I'll be seeing a band I've been DYING to see for years. They are called Fischerspooner. Musical Monday: Happy

Happy Musical Monday everyone, which is brought to you by Diane and Jori. Please visit 'em to play along too!

This week I chose a Fischerspooner song because I am so excited to be seeing 'em LIVE this upcoming Sunday May 31st at the Majestic in Detroit. This will be my first time...because they are mean to their US fans (well, not really)...and usually end up playing overseas or in New York (they are a NY performance-art-electronica band).

Sorry this video (fan made I'm sure) is VERY strange but "HAPPY" is a really great song, & this was the only clip I could find. Sorry. :( "Happy" is from their 2nd album Odyssey. And I'm very HAPPY to be seeing 'em...finally, so it fits.
Hope you enjoy the song and have a good week!~

The Kills at the Magic Stick

I wasn't able to get any shots...I was toooo far away unfortunately. :( But the pics below I took...

First up, the merchandise! Here's the merch table for all 3 bands. The Kills merch being at the end on the right. Mike wanted a shirt but I really didn't want one...didn't want another black shirt...don't really like white shirts...and they had a red one but...

...he wanted that one & got it. Which I didn't mind cuz I wanted something different anyhow. This is the front and the back only has the words 'The Kills' at the top. He liked this shirt because they ALL hate you, ha ha. No, he said afterwards he wanted it because it said Detroit Hates You-didn't even notice that when I was looking at it there.

We were curious to were there's a Georgia (city) or Seven Sisters (city). I looked both up and there's two Georgias-one in Indiana & one in Vermont. We couldn't figure out were Seven Sisters (presumably a city) was at...if anyone knows, lemme know!

I did want something though...either the tote bag or a set of postcards. So I got the tote. I HEART totes (from concerts) these days. And this was a really cool image & a tote you can 'wear' every day unlike a shirt...and it'll last longer. I got into band totes with MSI...then got 'em from Gogol Bordello's concert, Ladytron's, and now The Kills. I could be forgetting one or two though...hmm....

AND a very sweet thing was if your purchase came to $20 (which a t-shirt cost), then you get this sweet mirror (aka: looking-glass) above. So basically with every shirt you get the mirror...Mike gave me his, uhh yeah, he just HAD to!

And this is the actual mirror side...very cool idea! I really like to get something different from a concert nowadays besides a t-shirt. Like tour books, cups, totes, etc...

OK, now for my mini-review...

The Kills were really great in concert Friday night. Didn't care for one of their openers, The Horrors, but as my previous post said, Magic Wands (first opening act) were REALLY good. So for the main band-The Kills are so interesting and fun to watch, and it's just Hotel (Jamie, he's the guitarist) & VV (the singer, sometimes other guitarist) up there. Lots of energy and rockin' good music. VV aka: Allsion is crazy live but I love that. Actually they both were but more so her...she really reminded me of Janis Joplin if I had to compare her to another rockin' lady. Her voice might not be as soulful but her stage presence & attitude was very Janis-like. Oh & she sang "Crazy" by Patsy Cline (right!?) and that was pretty cool. And all this fun for only $15 bucks?...it was definitely worth every penny!
Italic
My only complaints were that the Magic Stick has this ongoing issue where they f*ck up the sound & they (Kills) had to stop & get set up again during the first song. Plus it was over packed in the club (my opinion cuz I've never seen so many peeps in that place before). And we had some BIG @ssholes in front of us at the VIP table. You could tell they weren't really there for the concert...a few of 'em even left halfway through the show-WTH!?? One guy was really annoying...he kept trying to caress & molest (well, practically) his date although she looked like she wanted nothing to do with him. Mike & I pretty much felt like punching him in the face (he did other things like putting his cigarette so freakin' close to us, cuz he was sitting & we were standing right behind him). So thank goodness he left! I hate peeps like that. Ugh!

Overall, it was a great concert and I am going to get there EARLY next time so I can get main floor, front & center (cuz I really wanted some pics). That was a bummer but again, Mike & I were late so it was expected. Definitely one of the best indie rock bands around today.
Check 'em out live if they ever come to your town if ya can!~

From my concert, Friday night, at the Magic Stick
(not my video though)
Funny thing though, this is very close to the view I had of 'em:

Aren't I Mysteriously Cool?...& Magic Wands

Why the bandana, Eve? Well, the lady at the merch table for last night's concert had one on...and I asked Mike "Does she have that on for the swine flu?" He's like no, it's because of the smoke. That's actually a really good idea because I HATE smoke at concerts. Honestly, wish it wasn't allowed. My eyes were very watery last night, UGH...and they even had the doors open. Plus if I wore these out, people wouldn't think it was too odd because of swine flu (is it dwindling down now though...cuz I don't keep track of that stuff?). AND I have several of these & I never had much use for 'em. Plus I hate being photographed...so yay, it'll works out! (Well, ok, it looks weird & prob won't ever wear 'em out...maybe at Halloween time though!) ^_^

Now to the real story below...

The Kills
were great in concert last night. I will probably give a fuller review a bit later, though I wasn't close enough to get any pictures-it was VERY packed. BUT in the meantime, here's the 1st band that opened for them called Magic Wands. They surprised me by being really REALLY good. I know it's bad to look at a band/artist & say "Hm, I don't know if this is gonna be any good," because looks can be deceiving. I say this because the 2 members (who both sang & played guitar) had on 80's looking sunglasses and the girl singer had her blonde hair up in a BIG ponytail. And they had BIG tiger (plush) faces on the stage.

So when they started playing the song below, I was like "Wow, this is pretty good." I bought their 4-song EP for at the concert for $6 because I really enjoyed 'em. Hope you like the song. And check 'em out HERE. Lemme know what ya think too.

New Music & Concerts Everywhere I Turn

Hi friends. Happy Friday to you all. (Please hit PLAY on the song below as you read.) There hasn't been too much music this winter, as far as new albums or concerts go, from bands that I like & now it's like a flood of both new albums & concerts. Unfortunately I won't be able to go to EVERY concert, I even missed Mindless Self Indulgence when they came around last month (which is rare cuz they're Mike & mine's fave band)!

So concerts coming up that I will be seeing include The Kills on May 8th, it's a Friday & I missed them last time around so it's a MUST. Then later in the month is Fischerspooner on May 31st. A definite must because I've been waiting to see 'em for years. Mike & I pre-ordered tix for this show the day we heard of it...and it so happened to be a concert the same night as NIN. Kinda a bummer but that's o.k. because I've seen NIN 3 times now...and we couldn't do it anyways because we bought Fischerspooner tix. Other bands coming to town that I'll have to miss this time around include VAST in May and also one of my fave bands live, Gogol Bordello. We simply can't go to all because of $$$ and Mike works some of these days too as do I. Oh to be rich & not needing a job! ^_^

So there's albums that are out and coming out too. One includes the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new one called It's Blitz. That came out this week. It's really great and I'm including my fave song at the bottom, though it's not a video, just the song, sorry! Fischerspooner's new album Entertainment comes out sometime in May and I wonder if Gogol or The Kills will have something new too since they're touring. Oh & KMFDM has an album that just came out called Blitz also...yeah, two CD's with that name in the title, kinda interesting. Mike has yet to get that one but I'm really curious to hear it because Skold did some of the production/programming.

So yeah, lots & lots of stuff coming out since last week through June...and I'm probably forgetting something too! O.K. hope you enjoyed the song at the bottom (Did you really hit PLAY?...hm, ha ha.). I'd say that the new YYY album just might be the CD of the summer from the bouncy & fun sound of it. To hear more of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs please click HERE. Take care & happy weekend!~

Fischerspooner...FINALLY!

I've been waiting YEARS for one of my fave bands, Fischerspooner, to come out of their lil' art-performance-cave (New York) and tour around the U.S. again...well, mainly Detroit of course. And YAY, they'll be here on May 31st...I'm SO excited. ^_^ Mike & I had to do the pre-order as soon as we heard about it (cuz I missed 'em the only time they were here years ago). I don't know why but I always have this weird urge to say "Casey Spooner, you're my hero." Ha ha. I know they won't disappoint live. To hear what they sound like, please check out their MySpace HERE.

Imperative Reaction LIVE

i saw one of my favorite bands, Imperative Reaction, a little over 2 months ago and am writing about it now. why you ask? simply becuz i didn't have a blogger then & i just wanted to document it before chunks are forgotten. well, it was one of the most surreal moments for me because the whole experience was so incredible. here we go...

Imperative Reaction have been one of my fave bands for a while now and i was beyond excited to see 'em that night. so when mike & i got there we grabbed a booth because it was atleast an hour before the 2 opening bands got on stage. and once one did we still stayed at our booth cuz the music was pretty crappy...as well as the next band. and that ended up being fine because i was able to meet the two 'main' members of the band. the first guy, Clint-he does the keyboards & programming live-just walked by our table & i asked for an autograph on their newest CD Minus All. and funny, a guy asked for one when i was getting mine. Clint was really cool, so that made me happy. but i was really hoping to meet someone else...

then when i was passing through a small & tight hallway they have there to get to the stage, i saw Ted Phelps, the singer/mastermind of the band. i say mastermind cuz IR is his band practically-he does vocals, lyrics, and all the instruments & programming. and the peeps on stage just do what he can't since he's singing...Clint does some extra help on the albums though. anyways i was both surprised & happy to see him, & had to say something. so i gushed to him for a few minutes on how i love the band & if they were playing my fave song that night (and they were!), bla bla bla-the normal girl gushing thing. did i happen to mention he's so cute?! he has black hair & blue eyes...lovely! so yeah, i felt like i was shaking in my boots. then we made our way over to my table and talked some more (gush gush gush), and i got my CD signed. and again, another dude asked him for an autograph while i'm getting mine...what did i start?!!

so Ted was so sweet & humble (and so sexy in person, darn him for being married, & darn mike-j/k!). so i was beyond happy that i got to talk w/him for a bit and got my CD signed-cuz i'm an autograph junkie too! oh, & yeah, i hugged him too...cuz god, i had to. who knows if i'll ever get to talk to him again? had to take advantage of the situation...ha ha. mike said i wasn't gushing but you ever get that feeling you're making a fool out of yourself?!? i feel that way when i meet people who...1) i really admire or 2) are very cute...and he happens to be both!

so the show. it got started LATE. and even though we were at a table until they were about to go on stage, we got a spot right up front, to the left of Ted. so that was awesome. & they were SO awesome live, everything & more that i hoped for. and even during a song i'm sure he pointed at me. i mean it was a pretty small venue & i happened to gush to him an hour or so before so it wasn't too unbelievable. i thought that was funny. OOO, they played so many of my fave songs, and saved the best for last "As We Fall." such a great song.

i took a lot of pics but less than half turned out decent. the one i'm going to use here was my BEST shot. it was so smokey & dark & lights were going everywhere that it was hard to get decent pics. but i got a few. the other pic is my collage i made consisting of the set list (first one i ever got, yay!), album artwork, and my autographs i got that night. so i went home feeling very satisified & thrilled that i met HIM (Ted) and that the show was so freakin' awesome. when i woke up the next day, i just wanted to be back at that concert cuz i waited quite a while to see 'em (i missed 'em last time they came around)...and it just made me SO happy. definitely one of the best times i've ever had. when there's that much anticipation, it makes things so surreal & 10x better cuz you're like "it's really happening." everything was perfect, i couldn't have asked for anything more that night!~

[this clip is from a show a couple weeks before mine, and is one of my fave songs "Closed In."]

My Amanda Palmer Show YouTubed

this is my last post of the night/day. i don't think i'll do anymore postings tomorrow/today cuz it'll be kinda busy. then again, things could always change. (i couldn't fall asleep again, so that's really why i'm on here.)

so you are going to see what i saw 12/2/08 when amanda palmer came to my town. this is my fave song she played that night, not to mention one of my all-time faves she plays in her main band, the dresden dolls. of course she had to throw in a few dresden dolls songs with her new solo work. and yay, she picked a really GREAT one. hope you like.~

Eve on YouTube...Sort Of

it's funny that someone was 'cellphone filming' this lil' clip. this was back in the summer time when mike & i met the guitarist, STEVE, of mindless self indulgence. it's not the greatest quality, hence cellphone, but you get to see how funny he is. AND at approx. 1:40 through you can hear mike & i talk to him (we aren't filmed though). he asked us if we were from europe because we had an import cd we wanted him to sign. and you can hear me say "OUI!" ha ha. we talk a little more with him, and then a few moments later, you can see my camera light up on his face. oh & he also kisses my hand when we're almost done talking w/him. some funny stuff....
...not to mention the BEST msi concert so far, we were finally on main floor first row-so awesome! that show was msi live #5 for me.

Amanda Palmer Concert TONIGHT

amanda palmer Pictures, Images and Photos

miss amanda palmer (of dresden dolls fame) will be performing tonight in ferndale, michigan for her first solo tour. i am SO excited to go...and hope i get a good spot...and hope i can bring in my camera. most places are good about that, but idk, haven't been to this venue in a while. and it's funny every blue moon when a security person asks 'do you have a camera in your bag/purse?' innocent me-"no." ha, come on. like i would really say 'yeah!' so many peeps sneak in cameras...i mean who really cares? & everyONE has a camera phone anyways. i can understand that they don't want the flash going off constantly but other than that, who really cares especially when a newspaper person(s) are snapping away all freakin' night.

OH & if you've never heard the dresden dolls before, you are missing out. and amanda's solo work is just as great too. plus the dresden dolls show was one of the most fun shows i've ever been to. and to top it all off, she's one bad ass rocker chick! she gives 200%-love her!<3

4 am

insomnia Pictures, Images and Photos
this isn't my pic...but pretty much what i feel like...and ha, clock says 4 am.:}

it's 4am, and i haven't been able to sleep. couldn't fall asleep and now mike is snoring so loud that when i go back into the room i have to leave again. so i decided to use the computer & make a blogger.

tomorrow i work until 4 pm, then come home, eat, & then will see amanda palmer (of dresden dolls) with my friend. i just hope i can get a little sleep soon because i don't wanna feel wonky at work or the concert...which she prob won't get on stage til 10pm i'm guessing. i don't like it when shows are on weekdays either but i know they can't help it.

the venue is nice cuz it's small but it can get packed. so people are in the aisles, it's set up kinda like a theatre, so i don't want to be standing in the aisle all night either. i'd be blocking people & i just wouldn't want to be standing there...doesn't help that i'm only 5'1...and that's hard at concerts if you're not up close!

woo hoo. i've been saving my change for a while in a Wonder Woman bank & that's gonna be my $$$ for the show. i thought i'd have 40 but i was close...33 dollars. and it's cool at my credit union cuz it's free to get cash for your change if you're a member...unlike coinstar that takes a pretty good amount. it pays to save every last penny. ha ha.

night night~eve
