Opening Paragraph for Paradoxia by Lydia Lunch

"So twisted by men, a man, my father, that I became like one. Everything I adored about them, they despised in me. Ruthlessness, arrogance, stubbornness, distance and cruelty. A cold calculating nature, immune to all but my own reason. Never able to acknowledge the repercussions of my behavior. Oblivious to the brutality and selfishness with which I would lacerate others."

Great book, almost finished with it....

Memorial Day Sales, Oh My!

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone.
And with that comes...
SALES!!!
And you know me, I LOVE a good sale or 2.
You might say "Eve oh Eve, you do love to spend $$$,
but...
this picture is proof to how cheap I really am.
I was at Target & just wanted a pic of me...
wearing the 'America/Uncle Sam' hat.

I didn't want to pay the $1 for it.
Yeah, I'm cheaper than you think.
Wait, that didn't sound right...;}
Anyways...here's my sales adventures.

This is a pic of MY Hot Topic, wooo hoo cuz...
Hot Topic had their half off the half off sale this weekend...
& I always hit it up then
.
Some things I couldn't pass up include:

An Alice shirt...and you know...
there's no question about whether or not to get it!

Purrrrple, is one of my colors.
And so is black...
And I love the skeleton image...
so Voila, I got this shirt.
It's a bit low cut for me...
so I'll be tank topping it under.

One of the best deals EVER.
Skelly animals totes for 4.99!!!
Isn't that sweet?
And I LOVE the bat skelly animal.
I know it's Skeleanimal, right?...
just like callin' em that.

The only thing at Hot Topic that I paid full price for.
A very creepy & cool Day of the Dead patch.
Now where to put it...
probably on a tote bag.

And BORDERS bookstore...
was extremely awesome for the holiday weekend too.
They had great sales on their clearance books...
aka: bargain books.

And they were buy one get one free...
and they were ALREADY very inexpensive.
I paid a total of $10.60 for all the books/CD's below.

I mean look at the cover...
it was a must-have.
Yeah yeah yeah,
don't judge a book by its cover but...
c'mon, Frankenstein & Cake...
how can you go wrong?!?
^_^

I got French Milk because it's a girl & her mother's 6 week travels to France. It looks really interesting because it's documented ALL in photos the girl took (she wrote/documented the experience)...and cool illustrations of things they did. Why is it called French Milk? The girl, Lucy, fell in love with France's milk while she visited there. I guess it's pretty yummy.

Kittenwar Postcards are cute...and are mainly for my cat-loving-friends (and YOU know who you are). Be expecting some from me in the mail or in person soon.

Carrie (in the right corner) is of course the Stephen King book...
but on CD's (7 of 'em, unabridged).
Yikes, I can't imagine how many hours that is but I'm sure it'll be awesome.
And to top it off it's read by Sissy Spacek.
How cool is that?
I read Carrie but a long time ago...
and I remember it being quite good.
So when I saw this book on CD's I thought hmmm....

Let me break it down cuz I think it's pretty sweet.
It normal retail price was 39.99...
& it was on sale for 5.99...
but since they were BOGO free...
it was only 3.00 + tax.
Major SCORE!!!
AKA: Score of the week...or maybe the whole month!
I hope it don't scare me too much though.
I can be a scaredy cat sometimes.

SOOO, all in all a great sales weekend.
And it isn't over...but I'm not going back out...
Well, a BIG maybe on Michaels (craft store) on Monday.

Some people often say...
I have some type of 'skill' with my shopping...
or that I'm a shopaholic (cough cough, Diane)...;}
But I don't see it either way.
I don't scope out stores for days & days....
waiting to see what'll get marked down.
Or planning/calculating things...that'd be a lot of work!
And I don't spend my entire day in the mall...
or at TARGET (my fave store as you know).
And ugh, you already know how I feel about shopping for...
dressy clothes/shirts other than t-shirts/pants/shoes shopping and grocery shopping,

but if not, I'll refresh your memory...
I hate it!

I mean a girl's got to eat, sleep, & blog...
at some time!

^_^

I just keep my eye out for certain sales...
from time to time...
especially the clearance sales.
Those are the BEST.
And I get some good selection sometimes...
and sometimes I don't.
Typically my local Hot Topic is kinda sucky...
for their 1/2 off sales, but I really lucked out this time around.
And BORDERS was kinda luck too.
I hadn't been there in a while...
and low & behold I found this great sale,
that actually had some good stuff.

So this was my BIG clearance splurge of the month.
And everything will be put to good use,
and that's all that matters, right?!!

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend.
I'm off to Meijer in a sec for...
BIG SALES!
Just kidding...
I gotta grocery shop.
It shouldn't be busy cuz it's late.

I prefer going later...

not a lot of long lines & usually not a million peeps down the aisles.
I'm quite the power shopper at the grocery store cuz I just wanna get the heck out of there asap. Unless I get sidetracked by something curious.
And yes you are right Diane, Meijer does have a BIG ol' selection of wines/beer/etc....
but Meijer is SO huge so no wonder, right??!

OK, adios for now amigos!~

Yesterday at the Mall

Yesterday, I visited Oakland Mall. I went to get my hair cut & dyed and since my sister doesn't live too far from there I went out there just because I was near by (and I needed to go to Victoria's Secret, will post about that later). So the pic above is me trying on a Top Hat at my younger sister's work. No my chin doesn't have that below it, it's the mirror (looking-glass), silly! Don't I look cool!?? ^_^

Oh MY! I really freaked out when I saw this shirt at Hot Topic because 1-I wanted it for a LONG time (but didn't want to pay full price) & 2-It was hard to find it in my size. So when I saw my size & in the clearance section I just had to pick it up. (Felt like a freakin' miracle!) It's probably my favorite Hello Kitty shirt ever...for obvious reasons (skullheads, skullheads, and skullheads!).

So another Yay! THIS awesome shirt was also in with the clearance & in my size. It's a SkeleAnimal shirt with a cute bat on it. And since I wanted to get 2 stamps on my HT frequent buyer card, I decided to buy it.

So when I got up to the register, the girl asked if I wanted to donate $1 to some fund & I'd get a free lil' tote that says Music=Life. I said "What's my total?" And she told me and then said I'll give you 3 stamps on your card if you do it so then said "Sure!" And for some reason, she was in a really good mood & noticed my card only needed only one more stamp before I got my 15% off my next purchase, so she said "I'll give you 4 stamps." So I'm thinking "Sweet!" Usually people are not that nice...and surprisingly Hot Topic had some cool things that day, and on clearance, so it really made my day.

My last purchase came from Borders. Again, surprise surprise that a Hot Topic carried Gothic Beauty magazine (I was gonna buy it there but didn't want to spend too much)...the ones near me suck & have stopped carrying it. So at Borders, they had Gothic Beauty (talks about Day of the Dead, yay!) and this really cool dictionary of medicine. Don't you just love the cover? It was only 4.99 so I thought it'd be a good resource. (FYI: I'm playing a lil' word game with that book, and you can see what I'm doing on my A Black & Blue Sky blog, if you're interested.)

So it was a good day at the mall...was there MUCH longer than expected but that's o.k. because I rarely go to that mall. Spent most of my time in Victoria's Secret, and again I'll be posting that soon because that was my first time both getting help & purchasing something from there...that post will probably more girl related...sorry boys unless you care about bra straps & free underwear. Wait! Maybe you do care, ha ha.
Have a good Thursday everyone!!!

Cellphone Pics: At Work

Here's some more random cellphone pics. This time they're all from work. If you don't remember, I work in a college library. This pic: Hm, I don't know why anyone would take a chair from under a plant but I guess it's happened before...says the boss.

The pic above is a Degas picture we have upstairs that I really like. Of course all the paintings we have are NOT originals...think some would have mysteriously disappeared if so...:)

Lookie, it's me through the looking-glass! Well, not really. I'm actually in the...restroom. Well, where else am I gonna find a mirror? My hand looks really big...weird. Probably because I'm holding that closest to the mirror. Trust me, I have small hands-not those monsters!

This is upstairs looking out a window to the parking lot of my work. I work downstairs at the desk, the upstairs is where most the books are though. I think I took this pic in the fall. I must admit that it's a nice view. But yeah, now you know why I'm late quite often. I gotta find a spot somewhere in that massive lot and then walk all the way up that ramp. Well, it can be trying, especially in the winter time when it's freezing!

Most the cool art is upstairs, and this is another example. It's a Georgia O'Keefe. Love her!

I also LOVE old pictures and I really liked the cover of this book. You can't see it but I'm pretty sure the girl's crown says "Cuba" on it...but I have no clue why. I used to know my history but it's been a while since I took any classes.

The Tree Show Art Book

Mark Ryden news again. just found this out. i think i overlooked it when i did my previous post (1st know, i said that this book made me want to cry cuz i couldn't get it...mainly cuz i have most, if not all, of his books). BIG "doh!!!" so now i'm very excited that i'll probably be able to get my hands on a copy of this. it won't be signed but it's still gonna be an awesome book regardless i'm sure! this sweet book will be available in wide release through bookstores as well as online distributors on February 1st. so if you want one, i suggest getting on it fast...cuz they always sell out in no time!

(his website said it's going to be limited to 12,500 copies which prob includes the ones he will sign the day before it's wide release.)

UPDATE @ 3:45 PM-I just preordered this lovely book off Amazon for $26 bucks. not a bad deal for 128 pages. Again, if you're interested in this book, I suggest getting it soon. I can promise you it won't be around long. (and Amazon usually has the best prices for books.)

What To Spend My Xmas $$$ On...

first stop, the bookstore, which is closing down. so everything is 40% off, i got these 3 books for a total of $13, not a bad deal. (ugly guide looked funny, don't own anything by Poe, and Edgar & Ellen are your typical goth brother & sister!)
second stop, the calendar store. i already have a calendar but this is a weekly planner...and it looks great. love old time (50s-60s) women's stuff!
last stop, kohls. my sis has this sweater but it's black w/pink design. couldn't find that one but this one is equally as cool.

i'm sure many of you get some $$$ for xmas and then you feel that it's burning a hole in your pocket & you MUST get something ASAP, right?!! well, i waited til yesterday to spend some of my xmas $$$, and here are the things i got at the mall.~
