Art-o-Mat at Detroit Comics

Today I was out and about (early for a change too!) so I decided to take a little drive to Ferndale. It's a very cool little city near Royal Oak (you all know I go there often). So I mainly went to Ferndale to check out the Art-o-Mat machine at Detroit Comics. I've only heard of it recently from Took, who was the winner of my last giveaway. But ever since I heard of it from her, I've REALLY wanted to go and today was a perfect day (up early, no work, and nice out).

So what is an Art-o-Mat you might be wondering? Well, the Art-o-Mat dispenses original art works by artists from all over the USA. The Art-o-Mat itself is a retired cigarette vending machine. So basically what you do is....

...look at the different artists & a sample of their art (or description) above each knob.

Then you make your decision, pull the knob...and a second later, your art will come out. (Kerplunk-the noise when it drops down) Yay! Cool, right?

And here's some info (much I've already said) on the Art-o-Mat. So you might be wondering which ones did I choose? I originally thought I'd get TWO art pieces but after seeing ALL the art (and not knowing when I'd come back again), I decided to get THREE. I will show them below.

I chose this one and got...

...this beautiful image on wood. I love trees so I was very happy to get this one by artist Jessica Guptill.

The next one I chose was by an artist named Herbert Hoover. No picture of his art but the description was "hand cast pewter objects." I thought that was pretty interesting so I got...

...a cracker! Oooo, I wonder what it would look like!

And it looks like...a cracker! But a shiny silver cracker. ;) Very cool!

And lastly I said What The Heck and got one more cuz my eye kept going back to this image by artist Julie Armbruster. So if my eye is going back to look it means GET NOW EVE! LOL.

So I saw this cute little white whale...and thought HM, love it and I'm sure her art is cool.

And what do you know, I got the whale on wood! Yay! Mission accomplished. Thanks so much Took for telling me about the Art-o-Mat, I'm sure I will visit it soon again. If you'd like to check out Took's Blog (she is also an Art-o-Mat artist) please go HERE. If you'd like to check out the Art-o-Mat website please go HERE.

Have a great rest of the week everyone!~

My Outfits for the Damned Show

Hi there. Finally posting a bit of what I'll be wearing for nights 1 & 2 of the Damned art show. I am not wearing everything-just the basics. I also have jewelry which includes: a skeleton keys set necklace, earrings, bracelet, ring, watch...maybe tights (I say that because I kinda don't like wearing 'em & my Bibi tattoo can be easily seen without 'em...yes, I wanna show it off, lol).

So above are the shoes. Shoes are a BIG part to any outfit, I think. And these shoes go with both outfits and are EXACTLY what I wanted-no heel, shiny, straps, and BLACK. So those the shoes, yo! ;)

  • Below is my outfit for Night One: VIP show & day one, very important-first impressions! (VIP show is for 2 hours, before the doors get opened to the public. It's where it's kinda a hang out with all the artists and people (the public, artists, whomever wants to hang out & see the art before doors open at 9 pm)...and those people pay the $25-$33 bucks to come into VIP for a couple hours).
  • Can you tell what my two favorite colors are from this outfit??? :) Oh and yeah, excuse the hair...as it's not even washed yet & just blah. :P

YUP, purple and black. The shirt is pretty much all lacey, the skirt is a pencil skirt (if I got that right) from Torrid...and it's AWESOME, very slimming and I just love the way it feels. And I KNOW it's a bit long (my sis kept mentioning it on FB, kinda ugh)...BUT I'm short (5'1). So it's hard to both find a skirt in my waist size as well as fitting me like the 'average girl's height.' BUT it is a tad loose so I may try pulling it up a bit or using a thin belt. I'll see how it goes.

  • Again, this outfit is not complete...I still have jewelry. (Maybe tights?...what do you all think...tights or no? Cuz I bought black ones, but I could also get sheer). And the hat below could also be worn Night One but I'm unsure because I kinda want to save the hat for the Masquerade Ball. Kinda just wanted to look nice & presentable the 1st night, if that makes ay sense. OK, enough about this outfit.

  • Below is my outfit for Night 2: The Masquerade Ball. First know, that the skirt is so awesome to me & I'll be wearing it BOTH nights (I mean I really don't care if someone thinks OH, she's wearing the same skirt! And who the hell is going to care or notice anyways, it's weird!)
  • Well, I'm not wearing the 'required mask' (still have to get one) but I am wearing the 'required' formal clothes. The purse is for both nights also. Oh and Queen that is the Saks Fifth Avenue purse I got for $1.49 at the Salvation Army, pretty awesome, huh? Cheapest part of my outfit for sure! Such an awesome score. ;)

So, hm, I do have a belt that is awesome...from Torrid also. This is what I got from Torrid: skirt, belt, and all my jewelry minus the watch. But sadly, the belt is not looking right with either outfits. And this belt is SWEEEET! But I'm gonna hold on to it cuz you never know. And yeah, the skirt is slimming but it don't slim everything unfortunately! ;) So I bought a shirt that goes underneath (updating this 3 hours after I 1st post it) that will hopefully slim my boobs (ah!) and my tummy a bit. I hope it works!

  • OK, the hat is pictured below. It is probably the icing on the cake because I never expected to find something so cool & my style! Cuz I love the little hats (they're like gothic lolita hats & I LOVE the style-gothloli-in general, as soon of you know)...and I just love the little touch of the skull & crossbones charm on it too!

So can you guess where it's from? I really did not EVER expect to find something THIS cool at THIS particular store. They have some cool stuff, but definitely not stuff this sweet & gothic. Guesses? Guesses? Guesses?

Hint: Is a tiny store at most malls...and no, it's not Hot Topic. Curious?!?

  • OK, let me know what you think about my outfits, if you'd like. :) And I must thank Mike for taking the pics & for letting me do a little fashion show for him, awww. Isn't he nice? Haha. What a good sport as I know guys really could care less about girls outfits & such. And honestly I'm not a big fan of it but for this particular event, of course an outfit is important! :)
  • Alright, pleae take care & hope you all enjoy your Saturday. I'm actually dropping off my art pieces at the gallery in a couple hours. Ooooo, so close...it's really getting me so anxious & excited. Woweeeee...only 5 days now!!! TTYL. ^_^

Nicest dressing room EVER, Domo at 7-11, & Concert Merch

At Torrid, they had the nicest (and biggest) dressing rooms I've ever seen. They are even so nice that they put YOUR name on the dressing room door. Cool!

So it's HUGE in there. MASSIVE! I love it because I love having space for my purse, possibly mall bags, coat, my clothes, and the clothes I'm trying on. They had this awesome & very comfy place to sit...I could sit there all day...pictured below...

Nice, hm? I guess I'm easily amused and impressed. But I kid you not, that this room was great. ;)

See where you hang up your clothes that you want to try on? I want one of those for my house. Maybe to set out clothes I plan to wear the next day or something. TORRID gets the Eve stamp of approval for "Best Dressing Rooms." ^_^

Next, DOMO at 7-11. Domo being at 7-11 convienence store just makes it fun going there. Well, more fun because it's always fun getting a SLURPEE. ;)

DOMO had his own Slurpee flavor, but I tasted it and YUCK, no so good. I'll stick with Coke or Pina Colada. Yummmm!

The pumpkin spice latte is...awesome! I mean really really good. And so much cheaper than a coffeeshop (cough, Starbucks, cough). Well, look at it this way it was only 1.29 + tax for a 16 ounce at 7-11. That is amazing!

Now on to the KMFDM & Angelspit concert. The pic above is of Sascha of KMFDM. He was hanging out at the merch booth for quite a while when we first got there. He had his sunglasses on when I was speaking to him. And I wasn't paying too much attention (looking at all the cool Angelspit stuff)...so when he took off his glasses I said "OH, Sascha!" LOL. I really didn't recognize him. About 6 years ago Mike and me were lucky and got to meet all the members of the time of KMFDM. Sascha (as was all) was a really nice guy. And I told him how much I loved their version of BOOTS.
Oh, haha...just remembering. At the merch booth I got a little sassy (my typical self) and said "Where's Skold?" (He's my main music man/crush!) I said I NEVER get to see him live and that it makes me sad. :( He said go to LA. Yeah, right...not going to happen anytime soon. I said tell Skold to come to Detroit...he has lots of fans here. Yes I actually said that cuz I LOVE Skold so much...and the Skold Vs. KMFDM album (came out this year) was great! He was very amused by this. That was kinda funny. :P
OK, below some of the COOLEST merch Angelspit was selling. I know I showed you most of these in my Angelspit post but these are a bit better...showing a better angle/both sides of things. OK, enjoy 'em.

I wanted the necklace above...but I already spent all my money on the First Aid Pack and the eyeshadow (Black Alice). Oh well, I can always order from her site in the future. Mike has picked up some sweet stuff from her shop before.

As you can see, there were lots of pretty shades of eye makeup. With even cooler names...but of course I had to get the Alice one...and cuz I love Black!
Below are a couple cellphone shots of Angelspit live.

So that wraps up a bunch of cellphone pics. Oh, and we did buy our computer last week finally (or the week before)...Tom's just putting it together now. He says it'll be done "soon," so we'll see.
I hope you all enjoy your day & weekend too. Don't forget to do something fun!~

The last of my Random Cell Pics for now...and my 400th post!!!

First up:
I really enjoy going to this antique shop down the road from me.
But tis VERY addicting. I'm easing up a bit now.

One of my weaknesses-skeleton keys.
She lets me have 'em for $1, how nice.
Soon to be incorporated into some of my art...
on & off Etsy.
I'll keep ya posted here of course!

This is the owner's sister. Awww, she's holding my Bibi.
I just ran in for a quick second with Bibi in the car...
yes, the windows were down.
I told 'em I had to hurry cuz my dog was outside & they said "Bring her in!"
I'm thinking "OH no...an antique store...idk."

But this nice lady was cool
(she even had a Bichon too)...
and BIBI was really good...
as she held her & I browsed.
That's some nice folks, wouldn't you say???

NEXT UP: Great Lakes Crossing Mall...
Tasty (but pricey) candy apples...
of all kinds!

This cute bear is always in their window...
but in a different outfit.
I wonder if they give him a new look every day?!!!

Did you know it's Hello Kitty's 35th B-Day???
Yup.
Got this when I went in the Sanrio store.

Next up: Michaels Craft Store...
Well, it's kinda not too far away...
3 months or so til Halloween.
But I saw these atleast a few weeks back...
was very surprised...
but happy since Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year!

Last but not least...
YES, that is a drinking fountain.
WTH are you thinking K-Mart!!!?!!!
I would be really angry if a shoe fell on my head!
I mean, wouldn't you!???!
Oddest placement for a water fountain EVER.
^_^

~Night night!~

Oh, and FYI:
This is my 400th post!!!
...(fireworks going off)...
after almost 8 months of having this blog...
wooo hooo.
Wow, has it been that long already?!?

I will be having a giveaway soon...
as I said before, I'd like to have 50+ followers,
and then I'd prob do the next one.
I'll see how it goes,
and of course keep you updated.

!!!^_^!!!

Random Cell Pics: Snail Mail, Sunshine Thrifting, and the Mall

How many days can I post random pics???
Hm.....
and not have you guys say "A POST lady, a post please!"
Sorry, just feeling lazy...and this weather makes me even lazier (word???)...
it's been pretty HOT here in Detroit lately...ugh!

FIRST PIC....
I got a PO Box recently.
I even got to pick my number...cuz I'm a lil' brat like that.
No, really cuz the guy said I could so why not!??!
So I chose my two fave numbers...6 & 13.
Snail mail is always welcome.
I HEART it lots!
The address can be found to the right of this page.

My good ol' friend Jennylee and I were ALWAYS hitting this thrift store up when we were in high school. I haven't been there in a long long time...and went in just 'cuz this week. And wow, it's so BIG & AWESOME in there. (Not to mention has great selection.) I didn't look at clothes-I am really picky with clothes...seems the older I get, the pickier I get. Hmmm...
SO...
I stuck to shoes and what lies below...

OLD knick knacks of course. I just love seeing what peeps got rid of. Sometimes it's good stuff too...or odd/funny stuff. Some good vintage stuff can always be found in this area.

American Flag behind some crappy TV's...good placement, right?

If there's a looking-glass, you know I'm there!
Still in Sunshine Thrift Store...best stuff in Macomb County...
or so says the business card.

When I say this place is MASSIVE...
trust me on it, alright??!!

This area had odds & ends like photo frames (got 2 for dirt cheap)...
books...
records...
bags...
and other random stuff.
And I HEART random stuff,
so I browsed there for a bit.

NOW on to the MALL...
LOVE this sign in Coney Island restaurant.
OK, it's in the bathroom...
that's why the lighting sucks.

Awww, puppies...

His sign said he was sleepy & to come back later...but...
his adorable little face kept telling me...
"Take me home & I'll love you & BIBI can be my big sister."
I hate going in the pet store...
I don't know why I torture myself...
all those doggies in cages...
like this cutie.

Seriously, you do want to FEAR BIBI...
she is a bit loopy!!!
She barks at shadows...
at the wind...
any odd thing,
she'll be barking!
But that's my doggie and I wouldn't have it any other way!

X's & O's to you from EVE...

Enjoy your Friday friends~
