Vinyl Redux opening reception pics

Me & my friend Dollie Dagger by our altered vinyl pieces

The Vinyl Redux show at the new Funhouse Gallery was a lot of fun. It had a great turnout despite the humidity being insane that day. And everyone was in good spirits, which makes things even better. Was definitely feeling the art "high." And now I feel really excited to be a part of more art events. Was such a long & brutal winter, ugh. And not much was going on for me with art stuff besides an art auction/benefit in January. So it felt good to be a part of things again. REALLY good.

250 pieces of altered vinyl by 50 local, national, and international artists

Nobody puts Mime Girl in the corner!

Vinyl was spinnin'

See my white TearDropBaby?
It was the 1st vinyl piece I made.

One of only two mixed media vinyl pieces I made.
It's Barbie Bloodbath.

Can't wait for some more summer art shows!

Vinyl Redux show tomorrow night!

Mime Girl with Green Eyes, acrylic on vinyl

She's one of 11 pieces I will have on display/for sale beginning tomorrow night at the grand opening of the Funhouse Gallery. The Vinyl Redux art show runs until mid-July but ya know, it's always best to go to the opening reception. It's a cash & carry show, which means bring cash, buy what you like, take it home with you. 50 local, national, and international artists will have pieces at this show. The Funhouse is located in the Russell Industrial Center.
For more info, please check out their site here.

Rain rain rain...

...it sucks! It will NOT stop raining here in Michigan. Feels like all its done is rain all through April and now May, ugh. It's so dark & gloomy, you'd think this was London if you were here right now! Just makes me want to listen to Cold Cave (a new band I've been digging lately) and Nick Cave all day. But on the bright side, the Vinyl Redux art show is only a couple weeks away. Been waiting a while for that.

I think it's my first group art show since the Cindy Lou Who Holiday show in December. Yeah and my first show of the year as well. June 4th. Looking forward to it. Got a peek of the gallery (oh that day is the grand opening of the gallery itself too, The Funhouse)...and a lot of the painted vinyl was already on the walls. It's looking good. And I'm REALLY hoping to sell some of my records:vinyl art pieces. It's great because most of the artists pieces are very reasonably priced.

Oh & it's a cash & carry show...which means you buy it, you take it home. No waiting until the end of the show to pick up the piece like most shows. I like that idea. There's going to be around 250 pieces so I'm sure the walls won't be completely bare.

Here's a nice, dark, & gloomy song from Cold Cave. Enjoy!

Vinyl Redux, Coming Soon

The Vinyl Redux Art Show is coming soon. Opening reception is June 4th and the show will run through July 15th. It's also the grand opening of the gallery itself, The Funhouse Gallery, located in the Russell Industrial Center. The gallery focuses on outsider, lowbrow, and street art.

I'm excited. It's been a while since I've been a part of a show. Vinyl Redux is all art on vinyl records. Some people may have done altered record sleeves as well. I tried that, didn't work so good though. So I did the maximum that you can display, 10 records. Actually I probably did closer to 20, been working on 'em for quite a while. So the rest I will probably bring to the People's Arts Festival this year.

8 of the 10 records that I'll have at the show are paintings while the other 2 are mixed media pieces. The picture above, Mime Girl, is one of my records that will be at Vinyl Redux. Think she might be my favorite one of the ten I made. I liked her so much I even put her image on my newest business cards.

Enjoy your weekend!

Next art show: Vinyl Redux

Hello there. So the next group show I will be a part of is called Vinyl Redux. This show is about taking old (vinyl) records and turning them into ART. I never worked on this medium before...but I am liking it so far. Something new is always interesting.

This show will run from June to July at a brand new gallery in the Russell Industrial Center called The Funhouse Gallery. I am really looking forward to the opening reception, which is June 4th from 6-10 pm.

Here is a link if you're interested.

Here is a record that may or may not be finished. Just wanted to give you an idea of the types of art I've been doing on vinyl. Have a good weekend. Talk to you all soon!
