1. Are you in a job that you truly enjoy?

I do like it...I don't think I would've been there almost ten years if I didn't.

2. If you could do any job in the world what would it be?

I would love love love to make my living as an artist.

3. If you could be a character in a novel who would you be?

Charlie from Charlie & the Chocolate Family...what a happy ending....to live in a candy factory.

4. When it comes to spending time with those you love, do you think it should be about quality or quantity?

Quality of course.

5. Is there a job/career you wanted but realized you couldn’t possibly do for one reason or another?

When I was working jobs here & there for a temp agency it made me realize I couldn't do the 9-5 thing in a cubicle...ever.

6. If you could live anywhere in the world or out of this world where would you live?

I would love to live in Europe. I don't know where exactly...maybe Paris or Sweden.

7. Where would you most like to visit and who with?

Two people. One I would like to visit my good Bloggy friend Carien in the Netherlands. And two I would like to go some places in the US like New Orleans or California with my good friend Maria.

8. Which skill would you like to learn?

I would really like to know how to sing professionally. I love to sing and I think I'm ok at it but I would really love to know how to do it right!

9. What made you laugh today?

Watching Parks & Recreation show.

10. What are you looking forward to tomorrow?

Relaxing....and tonight I'm looking forward to an art show.

11. What is your sign and do you believe in horoscopes etc?

Pisces. I take it with a grain of salt. Sometimes it is extremely accurate...that freaks me out a bit.

12. If you could change one thing about your life thus far, what would it be?

I would've tried a lot harder to get a better job. So I wouldn't be in this weird position now of "what if?" Kinda scary.

13. If there was one charity you could give a huge contribution to, which charity would it be and why?

Probably Planned Parenthood.

14. Should smoking be legal?

Yes but I am glad it's been banned in restaurants and bars now. Smoke kills my eyes and makes everything smell gross.

15. What are your views on the smoking ban in public places?

Oh...I guess I answered that above.

To vent and represent!

Daniel Clowes.

No but I sing.

Sunday Stealing: So you wanna know about my Blog

1. Why did you sign up for writing your blog?

I've been writing in a journal for years (since I was 16). I stopped for a while. Then decided in 2008, I think, to start writing again...but ahem, Blogging. Which I like a lot...not a big difference from a journal honestly.

2. Why did you choose your blog's name? What does it mean?

I love Alice In Wonderland. And the Blog's name is from the 2nd book:part of Alice, Through the Looking-Glass. Basically I want the reader to have a glimpse into my tiny world.

3. Do you ever had another blog?

Yes I did. I liked having it. It was called For the Love of Goth. I felt like I was writing about a lot of goth things and some of my followers:readers weren't commenting much. So I began that but it didn't last long....less than a year I think.

4. What do you do online when you're not on your blog?

Sadly I don't Blog as much as I used to. I know I should instead of using the alternative, Facebook. But now that I'm doing more art-related things I like the "network" that way more so. {Yeah I know that's terrible my fellow Bloggers}

5. How about when you're not on the computer?

I love hanging with my homies! LOL....um, art, music, hanging, chilling.....

6. What do you wish people who read your blog knew about you?

(Thought about this one for a while) I am ALWAYS listening to music. But I think they know that already!

7. What is your favorite community in the blogosphere?

I don't really know what that means. I guess it's here and Facebook. Those are my only online communities.

8. What is your philosophy on your blog layout?

My favorite color is blue, sky blue. And the business on the side of my page is a way for me to keep track (and promote) my art show stuff. Also to share some of the stuff I like...like songs or favorite websites, etc...

9. Tell me about your picture you use to represent you on your blog.

Well that changes all the time. Right now I'm doing pics from this past DAMNED art show...because I am super lazy and don't want to do a whole Blog post. Terrible, I know.

I don't want to do random because I'm not a hardcore Blogger anymore. But I will give you my three faves...

Sullivan: He & his owner were pretty much my 1st Bloggy friends. I love their Blog. And they are wonderful people. Happy to have met them on here.

Demented Wench: I have known this cool lady for a while as well. I always like her Pretties! ;-)

Audrey: She's a local Detroit artist. And I'm happy she blogs...because well, Blogs are GREAT!

11. What features do you think your blog should have that it doesn't currently?

Hmm....I don't know, any suggestions from my Bloggers? Because I feel like it's alright.

5- Detroit is my home. Has been since the day I was born here!

13. Do you have any unique interests that you have never shared before? What are they?

I don't like answering my phone. I never have and I don't know why!

14. The best thing about blogging is all of the friends that you make, Beside from those folks, do you think your blog has fans?

I really don't know. And I don't care if it does or doesn't....I just need a place to vent sometimes.

15. What's your current obsession? What about it captures your imagination?

Drawing. I love to draw now. Never used to do it before. Most the things I draw never become paintings...and I don't know if I really want them to be. They are kinda in their own separate category of art things I do.

16. What are you glad you did but haven't really had a chance to post about?

Yeah...DAMNED IV. Stop making me feel bad! I had a great time this year, as expected. This is my 3rd year in a row being a part of this local Detroit art show...though it includes national & international artists as well. I only went to two nights this year instead of the three. I met some new friends and ran into some old. I wish I could've watched some more of the performances...instead of running around like a chicken without a head. I will have to do that for sure next year so I don't regret it again!

17. How many people that first became a blog friend, have you met face to face?

I think only one. She's cool....happy Blogger connected us.

18. What don't you talk about here, either because it's too personal or because you don't have the energy?

Oh many things, haha. But I don't like to talk about things too personal anywhere. People don't need to know EVERYTHING. I don't want to know everything about people either....you need to hold on to your privacy!

19. What's a question that you'd love to answer?

When are you gonna get married?! Haha

20. Have you ever lost a blogging friendship and regretted it?

Nope.

Hmm....terrible.

I am answering these questions

I used to do these all the time. You add your Blog to a list and then everyone is supposed to look at the other people's Blogs on the list. Blog-hopping or something like that. Well, I don't want to do that this time around...but I wanted to answer the questions anyhow. It's called a "meme" and this particular one is called Sunday Stealing. And yeah I know it's not Sunday....but will be soon. ;-)

16. What's the longest shift that you worked at a job?
Hm...I don't really remember. I probably worked atleast a 10 hour shift when working at Toys R Us during the Xmas season...many many years ago.

17. What was the last concert that you attended?
The Kills with Cold Cave at the Majestic in May.

18. What the last DVD (or Blu Ray, of course) movie that you watched?
In the Realms of the Unreal. A documentary about outsider artist Henry Darger.

19. How did you like the film?
It was really great. I liked how they animated his artwork. And it was also very sad...since none of his art was recognized until after his death. A massive amount of work too.

20. What comedian do you love?
I love many but I especially love Rich Fulcher {The Mighty Boosh}.

21. Do you ever sleep in the nude?
I really think that question is WRONG! :P

22. Have you ever had a long distance relationship?
Nope.

I went to an art show I had a piece in for just a little bit yesterday. Today I have been lazy. But I did buy some art note cards so I can make lil' drawings on 'em. Then sell 'em {hopefully} at this art festival coming up in late August.

YES!!! And I don't take any offense to that.

31. If you could have one thing, what would it be?
These questions are SO vague. Well, I really want the book Barrett. It is about Syd Barrett {original singer:guitarist of Pink Floyd}. It has his art in it and I really would like to see that. But it is so expensive because it is only available overseas. Darn!

My very good friend Remi. I believe she's in New York but honestly I couldn't be for sure. Was one of the hardest "breakups" with a friend I think I have ever experienced. I still think of her...and wonder how she's doing.

"Mike you should start getting ready." (We are going to his Aunt's for Easter)

Both...but overall I'm pretty optimistic.

10 Things Self Portrait

Happy weekend friends. OK, I cheated a bit (I have 3, and not just one, Self Portraits...Warhol-ish though). Emily over at Follow the White Rabbit did this 10 things about me List and I really liked the idea. So here's mine. I recommend that YOU do a self portrait blog post too. It's a really cool idea. And Emily's blog (and art) is really sweet, check out her list over HERE also.

Ten Things About Me

10-I saw most of Tim Burton's films at the theatre before coming to the realization that he is my favorite director of all-time.

9-I have never taken an art class (besides high school & jr. high) in my life. I did take a couple art history classes though and really learned a lot about style, techniques, etc...

8-I like a lot of deceased people...musicians mainly. Well, I like learning about them and their lives. Ian Curtis, Kurt Cobain, and Syd Barrett are all people I would've loved to have met before they passed away (if time doesn't matter for Ian & Syd...a bit before my time).

7-A dream of mine has always been to travel and stay a while in London. I don't know what it is...something is calling me to go there.

6-I have terrible terrible TERRIBLE balance. I fell out of my front door before because my shoes were like an inch or two off the ground. It's ok to laugh...I know I looked crazy!

5-If I could only watch one film forever, it'd be Ghost World. Enid is a personal (though fictional) hero of mine.

4-I typically don't like going places where there's going to be a crowd. Uncomfortable.

3-Speaking of uncomfortable, I think I'm very socially awkward. Small talk is something I'm just not good at.

2-(Emily used this one, sorta) Most of my friends are water signs...as am I (a Pisces)...and overall we get along very well. Mike is a Cancer too.

1-Handsome or flat out ugly, if YOU (a guy) have a British accent, I will probably fall in love with you. Oooooh la la. ;) {ie. Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, Ian Curtis, many British actors, and last but not least, my tour guide when I went to France in 1997...his name was David & he was from Manchester}

where did you stay?---we are driving to and from in a day because it's not very far away

what job do you do?---it seems like i do many jobs at my job...technically 'library aide' though

what do you usually do on weekends?---depends. sometimes we don't do much...sometimes i hang out with friends...we usually try to watch one rented film on the weekends (darn you blockbuster total access!)

what drink really does it for you?---what is it???!!! well, i'm drinking a FREEZE from Dairy Queen right now and it rules...strawberry & kiwi flavor (slushie) with ice cream mixed in-yum!

where would you like to live if you had unlimited moneys and nothing stopping your dreams?---well, i haven't traveled much sadly...but i would atleast like to visit England once in my life...so many things/people i like are/were from there....and the culture just seems cool!

what do you like to do in your spare time?---you're seeing it! (and painting, watching tv, listening to music/concerts, spending time with mike and bibi, spending time w/family and friends, doing absolutely nothing...

what's your favorite genre for music?---hm, depends on my mood...i can listen to hard industrial and then music w/cello, violin, or piano the next second...really depends...lately i've been listening to Pink Floyd a lot...

Thank you, thank you to MEJIS at Did I Say That Outloud? for this lovely award. It's the Honest Scrap award...and I think this makes the 3rd time I've received it...and you know what they say, third times a charm, right!?? She also passed on another award, and I will get to that one later. As with one Ms. Cindy @ Twas the Brillig gave me a million years ago...sorry Cindy-I didn't forget about the Zombie Chickens!...And it's not like I get a bazillion awards but sometimes I just put 'em off...and I figured "Can't put 'em off anymore...I have no excuses!!!"

K, (Thinking Cap On)...

My HONEST LIST

10-I've probably spent MORE money on CD's/Music than anything else I own...including my car. (OK, it's used but STILL!) In other words, I have a HUGE passion for music. I am listening to some now...

9-I don't typically like or watch SCARY/GOREY films. I scare way too easily and I have nightmares.

8-If I HAD to go deaf or blind I would choose BLIND. Yes, even as a struggling visual artist because (again) MUSIC is probably my biggest love in life. Would miss seeing things but think I would miss hearing things more.

7-I've met pretty much all the musicians I've wanted to meet in my life. (Exceptions might be Kathleen Hanna, Bjork, and Tori Amos.) But there's ONE musician I would give my left ear to meet and his name is Tim SKOLD. I'm dead serious.

6-I haven't read a book in...over a year. Atleast. Sad, I know. :(

5-I enjoy WHITE NOISE when I go to sleep. (Mike is the complete opposite.) This is probably because of the fact that I lived very close to an expressway for most of my life.

4-I don't really eat FAST FOOD much. Take out, yes. Fast food, hardly ever...besides Mc D's breakfast.

3-If you looked at my shirts in my closet, you would see that MOST are black. I LOVE color but black just seems to look best on me I think.

2-I LOVE to write on chalkboards...or nowadays the white boards w/markers. Hm, don't know why!

1-I BLOG when I should be cleaning my house...but doesn't everyone?!?

Queen's Meme: The Mission Impossible Meme

1. You are a guest on the space shuttle. You just arrived on the moon and realize you forgot something back home that you can't live without. What is it and how do you convince them to go back and fetch it?

I wouldn't bother them, I don't think. And I am a guest afterall. I mean c'mon, I'm on the moon! What could I possibly NEED besides LIP BALM & clean underwear?!!?

2. Pretend you are a teacher in a rough public school for one day. You have been assigned to teach Manners 101. You have the "challenging bad butt kids" class (remember this is a pretend school and anyway I can't say ass on my blog 'cause it's so unQueenly and I might get fined or something).
They are jumping up and down, cursing, and throwing things at you.

What is the first thing you would write on the board?

"I know ALL your names & where you live, you lil' b@$tards!!!"

3. Someone in your family or a friend has started a blog. They think it is anonymous but you have figured it out. They are saying derogatory things about you. Do you tell them or do you read it for awhile?
How would you handle it?

I'd probably read it for a while...until I couldn't hold in my feelings anymore. Then I would ask him/her what their deal/problem is? And that THAT is very uncool...especially if they are using MY REAL NAME and not his/her REAL NAME.

4. If you had one dollar left in your pocket, what would you spend it on?

Well, something from the dollar store-duh! Oh, but I'd need tax...so, something non-taxable from the dollar store (I prefer the Dollar Tree though...so I'd buy my item from there).

5. President Obama and the First Lady are coming over for dinner. What do you serve?

Well, I don't cook...very well. So I'd order some Thai food. They seem like they'd like Thai. ;}

6. You walk in on your lover. They are trying on your clothes. What do you do?

Say..."MIKE, not again! You KNOW you could NEVER be as beautiful as me." ^_^

7. Every astronaut must have shots! Choose your vaccination: You only get one and you can't enjoy any of the attributes of the other choices. You choose either: (1) The fountain of eternal youth and sexual vigor but only for 10 years (2) perfect health for a lifetime (3) eternal mind-numbing nirvana and peace of mind (4) unlimited hedonism for one year with no negative consequences.

I would choose...3-Nirvana & peace of mind...although it was a tough call between that one & perfect health!
