He deserved it & that's all that matters

Yay, Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his performance in The Dark Knight. It sucks that TDK wasn't up for anything much bigger than visuals, editing, etc...BUT just him winning makes me content. His family (father, mother, sister) accepted the award and it was really touching & sad. The 'celebrities' looked very sad too when they were filming the audience. It was a very intense few minutes but he deserved it & that's all that matters.

I watched the beginning of the show and then had to stop (but I was taping it anyways). Then I FINALLY got to his award & lemme tell you, the Oscars seemed so terrible. Yeah, the host (Hugh Jackman) was talking about a recession while there's tons & tons of freakin' crystals or diamonds hanging from the ceiling...WTF? But it wasn't just that THAT made me think the Oscars were terrible. It was mainly because I watched the Spirit Awards last night & this seemed so stiff & ridiculous compared to those-the Indepedent Film (aka: Spirit) Awards.

Why do I give in to the Oscars & think they mean so much? I really shouldn't but in the end, I'm just happy Heath Ledger got an Oscar for his wonderful performance as The Joker. That's all I was really hoping for tonight.~

No Need to Introduce a Lil' Anarchy :}

but of course Heath Ledger got an Oscar nomination for his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight. if he didn't that would be pure MADNESS! (and today so happens to be the anniversary of his death. kinda odd, hm?) and although the film didn't get nominated for Best Picture or Best Director...what do THEY know anyways?...it got a bunch of technical nominations. i think they said 8. which is really good...including cinematography and visual effects. what other film deserves to win those categories for goodness sake? well, cinematography award....(maybe that one deserves to go to something else. and that film is The Fall.). hm, i didn't read if The Fall got any noms. i'll have to check again, but i really hope it did. (ok, it didn't & i just say WTH!) see it peeps! AND for more info on all the award nominations, please check HERE.

oh yeah, i would like some more guesses for my Guessin' Games post. just because i know some of yous haven't (naughty, naughty!)...and cuz the more guesses, the merrier.;) i gotta go somewhere soon so maybe i'll post the answer in a little while. we'll see what happens. oh & happy-day-before-the weekend-begins. yay!~

...the Golden Globes this Sunday @ 7pm. if Heath Ledger doesn't win, there will be ANARCHY, Anarchy I say! no, but i would be very disappointed. no, shocked...cuz i think it was the BEST performance i saw last year. & the whole film was brilliant of course. 1st movie in a while to live up to the hype & then some.

soooo, Heath Ledger won at the Critics Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actor (same award he's up for Sunday), and i was happy. :) oh & The Dark Knight won Best Action Film too, yay! but i was unhappy that The Dark Knight didn't win Best Ensemble at the CC Awards.:( should've definitely won that, hands down! what did win? MILK...ugh. why do those million & one films sneak in there at the last sec & snatch up all the awards?!? freakin' hate that. don't get me wrong, they may be very good films but this has happened time & time again...

& then i say..."what did come out in 2008 anyhow?!!" because, again, allllll these films come out right before all the awards shows. hm, wonder why those films do that? yeah, you know why! and then i forget about great (WONDERFUL), beautiful films that came out in '08 like The Fall. which i hope gets some Oscar nominations because it deserves SOMETHING. like i said in my post for it, it was like watching a remarkable painting come to life. AmaZING. but anyways, watch the Golden Globes...and if it's like it's been in the past, Supporting Actor category is usually the 1st award given. i hope so cuz i'm in MUCH anticipation!!! @_@

this is a really good film. i saw it last year & wanted to see it again. it's about a couple (heath ledger & abbie cornish) who are deeply in love with one another, as well as with a drug...heroin. it's a good story but sad. still both actors do a great job. this is my 2nd fave heath ledger film after The Dark Knight. he's so sweet & freakin' good in it. (oh & he gets to use his 'real voice' cuz it's an australian film too...geoffrey rush is also in it.)
rent it if you can. tragic & sad...but still GREAT. (oh, and heath looks REALLY cute in this one!)

And Here We Go

when mike & i bought The Dark Knight on Blu-ray it came w/a digital copy for your computer. i wasn't sure how i felt about watching it like that, never have done it before. so yesterday mike downloaded it & yay, i'm glad he did. i haven't watched it all yet on the computer but the parts i have look SO great. the resolution is much better than our tv(s) so it's very cool to see everything so clearly, and to catch those little details too. ooo, it's awesome!

Cupid Clone

i've actually wanted this for a while. probably after seeing The Dark Knight the 2nd time around, i saw it 4 times at the show (once at Imax). i know it's kind-of a weird gift to give or receive but it's so awesome! it's the replica of the joker's knife he used every single time in the film. it's called the cupid clone. i think that's a pretty sweet name, as well as the knife itself looking pretty sweet w/the middle open like that. of course what is used in The Dark Knight is MUCH cooler looking, if you've seen the film, but the replica would still be nice!

He Got Nominated!

i wasn't gonna post any more today, but i just found out Heath Ledger got a (very well-deserved) golden globe nomination for his performance as the joker in the dark knight. yay yay & yay some more. here's hoping he wins...and gets an ocsar nom too (and WINS!).

The year’s biggest hit, the Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight,” came in with strong awards buzz across the board but had only one nomination, supporting actor for Heath Ledger as the Joker. Ledger died of an accidental prescription drug overdose on Academy Awards nominations day last Jan. 22.
“This nomination is deeply appreciated and is not lost on those of us who continue to love and miss him,” said father Kim Ledger in a statement on behalf of the actor’s immediate family. “We are so proud that our boy’s work is being recognized in this way.”
“Heath was a friend of mine,” said actor Terrence Howard, a presenter at the nominations ceremony. “He gave his all in that film. I think he will win in that category. He’ll also get an Oscar.”

Hibernation Mode, and Happy Anniversary To ME!

got it! the dark knight that is. so i'll basically be in hibernation mode for a week or so. lots of special features to watch-3 hours worth. but that's awesome! so if you don't see a posting for a while, know that i'm just probably watching the dark knight, again. or the special features. but call/email me if you want to get me out of this mode for a few...ha ha ha. seriously!!!:)

btw: oh, and today marks my 1st week on blogger. happy anniversary to me! omg, i can't believe i did over 20 posts. i feel like i've been on THIS forever. just like when i joined HK Junkies. after about a week, i was like "i've only been on this for THAT long." felt like that was always one of my online homes, like this feels now.:)



best oscar poster EVER!!!

Why SO Serious? Because it RULES!!!

i went to get the newspaper today so i could see all the sales ads for the week (why really? i'll tell u in one sec). so i braved the VERY freezing cold, i only went down the street but STILL, and got the Detroit Free Press. i've been getting the newspaper hit or miss lately but i HAD to get it TODAY because i need to know all the different prices, exclusives, etc...when THE DARK KNIGHT comes out Tuesday. this is definitely my fave film of the year (i saw it 3 times at the regular show & 1 time at Imax)...quite possibly my favorite film of the whole decade. YES YES and YES it lived up to the hype in every single way...if you're one of those few peeps who hasn't seen it yet. ;}

OK, this won't give away TOO much if you have yet to see it-awesome story, great characters, freakin' creepy soundtrack (got that too), great special effects-bla bla bla, and yes yes & YES again-the JOKER was the coolest part of it ALL. heath ledger's joker owns that film. there's no doubt about that. when he leaves the screen, i just want him back ASAP. so hi, my name is eve & i'm a joker junkie!;}

SOOO...of course i would like something extra, prob the playing card most (the replicas are cool but look kinda cheap). BUT it looks like it's Batman on it, not JOKER. hm, odd. :{. so i'm just going to go to Target (mainly cuz i know everywhere else is gonna be packed-especially BB-) & target might be packed too for what they are offering, but i'm just going to get regular Blu-ray version. no lil' extra material items cuz they aren't so great to me, or worth waiting outside for, or worth trying to snatch up either in (i'm guessing in the morning hours) a frenzy!

and it's $25 for the Blu-ray version at target, and almost everywhere else too for that version. not too bad for blu-ray & you get all the special features still, which is what i REALLY want anyways. although rumor has it there's not a lot of Joker features, darn! but i know the features will still rock of course. so i highly recommend that you pick up one of these copies if you can afford it tuesday. if not, get it or give it for xmas...ha ha ha...:}

so obviously, i give ALL my support to The Dark Knight. it's a film that truly deserves all the attention it has been getting, and continues to get. why so serious, eve? well, cuz it's the TRUTH! so please, JUST support one of the best films EVER...o.k.!?! and you shall forever RULE.^_^

Side Note: AND, i want it to crush titantic's box office standing when TDK gets re-released in January. (so GO see it then too people!) the dark knight needs to be #1 of all-time, and i know it will be. it's just a matter of time...
