My fellow blogging bud, Boyd over at Boyd's World did a post the other day that really got me thinking. And that topic was the future of blogging. It makes me curious for many reasons. For one, am I still going to be doing this blog in say 5 years? I can imagine so but what if I get bored...run out of topics...simply don't want to do it, etc...??? Sometimes I feel like I can write about 10 things a day but will that feeling last...as time goes by? I know you should definitely live in the PRESENT no matter what but again, I can't help but to be curious about what the future holds for blogging.
Another thing is most the peeps who either follow me or if I'm following them, started their blogs roughly around the same time as mine (mine began in early December). We're all kinda in the same boat right now...and most of us don't have over 25 followers. So that brings up another question, what happens when I get 100 followers...or something crazy like 1,000 (if I should be so lucky!)??? What would I be feeling then? Will I feel more pressure to write better & to keep 'em interested? Would it feel more like work than fun at that point? (Will "they" soon be knocking at my door offering me the BIG BUCKS to keep up my blog...or cut me a book deal? Heck yes, I'd do it, wouldn't you?!! Ha ha.)
Something interesting happened when I was looking for other blogs to follow...and it happened time and time again. I'd look at a person's profile, they sounded cool, I'd go to their blog, and then I'd notice they haven't posted anything in YEARS. And again, their blog looked completely awesome. I can't help but to wonder why they quit Blogger? It's a bit sad...so will peeps be sad if I ever left? Would I be sad if I quit it? Curious Eve...
But at this point, I feel very dedicated to my two blogs-yes my other one is HERE. I feel like I've needed this kinda outlet for a while. I quit keeping a journal so this helped bring "it" back to life in a way. Also, I'm VERY glad to have met such awesome people so far in my blogging adventures. Almost everyone I've come across on Blogger seem like they're fun, positive, creative, and supportive peeps. Hm, I used to think 'what was I doing before I joined MySpace?'...then 'what was I doing before Hello Kitty Junkies?'...and now I think 'what was I REALLY doing before I started my 2 blogs!!??'
This may sound odd but when I found out that there'd be a possibility that I'd be moving back home one of the 1st things I thought to myself was "What about my Blogs?!!" I said this because my parents' computer is the slowest/worst computer I've ever been on & I definitely wouldn't want to use it. Ugh, it's so sucky. Also because it's out in the open (dining room) where HERE I can have some privacy in separate room, close the door, & be alone with my thoughts. And I need that when I'm blogging-I usually listen to music but it's not distracting most times. Plus I do so many other online things from paying my bills, checking bank accouts, buying crap, browsing, using MS, FB, & HKJ, checking my few e-mail addys, etc...THAT I know I'd definitely buy my own computer if I went back to their house. Ultimately because I've discovered that I truly love writing & sharing things and there's no stopping me now! ^_^
BUT back to the future of blogging. Does it make you curious what the future holds for us bloggers? I mean what could be the next BIG thing that we'd all say "Let's go do this & forget blogging!" I think it's great that people are connecting through the written word...yes it's on a computer but people are reading, therefore followers are smart & blog authors are smarter-just kidding! But you know what I mean. Please let me know your thoughts/opinions on anything I touched on above or something I didn't say that makes you curious. Because again, I'm curious. My name is & always will be Eve "Curious" Noir. ^_^
Take care friends & have a lovely Wednesday. It's my day off so I'm sure I'll be on/off throughout the day.~

8 Curious people had this to say...:
I know me and my owner will always be reading and writing and making pictures one way or another so as long as we like doing the blog we'll be here.
You raise a good point. Every thing cycles and blogging is bound to be a thing of the past at some point. What in the world is next?
I'd be upset if you quit your blogging...
I also wonder why people left the blogger world. One of my first followers I didn't know posted about three times, and apparently aboandoned her blog. I can't imagine anything that would cause me to leave the blogger community...
thanks for the shout out, too!
I too love to blog.
Very intriguing post. I wish I had a crystal ball to tell me my future in blogging. :)
Intriguing post. I love the cartoon!
Interesting post. I can sometimes see why people stop with the blogging. Personally, I would like to do daily posts, but sometimes there's just not enough time or I can't quite come up with something interesting or cool enough (in my opinion) to post.
But, in 5 years will I still be blogging or will I get off my buttocks and write the great American novel and/or screenplay? Will blogs be around anyway or will it go to video or something? Who knows. Time will tell, I guess, huh?.
I've had the same thing...find a cool blog and then see they haven't posted in forever. I actually have another "secret" blog that is being used for one thing and I'm not sure I'll keep that one after it's served its purpose. So that may be a reason that some of those blogs have been abandoned? No matter what happens to the blog world, we will always find ways to communicate with others all over the world.
